Carol Ann Waddell (nee Olson)
December 4, 1943 - April 10, 2026
“The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power
to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour.
Now is the only time you own; live, love, toil with a will.
Place no faith in tomorrow, for the clock may then be still.”
Carol Ann was born in Alberta and spent her youth in the Yukon with her siblings, Cecile, Eleanor, Randy and Gregory. Her mom passed away when she was five. She lived with her family until she was old enough to move out on her own. She was very close to her Granny Olson, and her sister, Ellie. Carol was married to her first husband, Rick Harrison and they had a daughter, Jeanette. They lived in Germany and took several trips all over Europe. When her marriage to Rick ended, she returned to Canada where she married the love of her life, ‘Bobby Baby’ Robert Waddell. They were married for 56 years before Bob passed away. They had 3 boys - Michael, Frederick (Dara), and Brett (Jocelyn).
Carol spent her life always caring for others, and she loved her children fiercely. She was their number one fan and gave them everything she had. She was an unwavering supporter of her children and her beloved grandchildren - Shannon, Mitchell, Maerick, Morgan, Carson and Jaret. She also enjoyed the privilege of being a great grandmother to Morgan’s daughter, Charly. Her sister, Eleanor, passed away suddenly at 36. Carol stepped up and always supported and cared for Ellie’s kids - Denise, Kimberley and Andre.
Carol worked in banks for many years when she was younger but spent her last 2 decades in the working world as a real estate agent where she became known as the ‘Island Queen’ for her many house and cottage sales on the islands of Lake Simcoe.
If you had the privilege of knowing this amazing lady, you would know that she was strong in spirit and perseverance. She was a survivor with a heart as big as the world. She felt all emotions deeply and was the most empathetic person. If she loved you, you knew it without a doubt. If she was angry, you knew that too! Her sense of humour was unmatched. She was brilliantly creative and a talented cook.
Carol passed away peacefully at Hospice Renfrew after a short battle with metastatic lung cancer on Friday, April 10 at 2:30pm. She will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Private arrangements entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior.
