Obituary of Christina McCullough
(nee Tobien)
With deep sadness and heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Christina McCullough.
After complications following a sudden fall at home and subsequent surgeries,
Christina passed away peacefully with her family by her side at The Ottawa Hospital -Civic Campus on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Christina leaves behind her partner of over 45 years Leigh Hunt; her daughter, Nova Rae Smith (nee Hunt) (David Smith) of San Diego, California;
her son Mitchell McCullough of White Lake and two grandchildren: Nicholas and April McCullough.
Christina also leaves behind her brother Michael Summer; sisters-in-law: Cheryl Taylor of Chesterville and Paula Pugh of Ottawa;
her nieces: Jessica and Karla Pugh and her half-sister Maureen Tobien.
Born in Ottawa on June 10, 1957 to German parents, Christina moved to White Lake nearly 30 years ago to get away from the city life.
She was excited to live peacefully in the country on her land that she loved so much.
Christina loved all the animals she had over the years. At one point she had 10 cats who were all spayed and neutered, loved and fed very well.
All of the dogs she had over the years lived a very long time because of how much love she gave every single one.
The many birds, squirrels and wildlife in her backyard were her “pets” too.
Everyone who knew Christina knew she had a HUGE heart.
Despite her loud and often boisterous outer appearance, she cared deeply for others and would do anything to help other people.
She loved helping the elderly as well. Christina was a loving Oma to her sons’ children as well as her Granddogs.
She enjoyed their yearly visits from California.
Christina will be remembered by her wonderful clients in White Lake, Arnprior and area who became good friends.
She cherished every single one of her clients… many whom she has been so lucky to help for over 20 years.
For many years, Christina eagerly volunteered at the Women’s Institute in White Lake every Saturday.
She leaves behind a heartbroken family, friends and loved ones who are devastated by her loss.
Christina will be remembered for her loud and caring spirit. Her generous personality will be missed by many.
Thank you to all of the nurses and doctors at The Civic Hospital who showed lots of care and compassion over the last 3 months that Christina was hospitalized.
Christina’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family in Arnprior
where a visitation will take place on Thursday, February 27th from 2-4 p.m.
A private family interment will take place at the Albert Street Cemetery, Arnprior.
To honor Christina’s memory, please reach out to help someone in need or donate to a local animal shelter of your choice.
