Sunday, May 25th, 2025 - Just heard about Jim's passing and am extending sincere condolences to all his family. I remember meeting Jim back in the late 70's/early 80's through my brother-in-law, Jim Wade, who was a friend of his, and I recall a great many stories of their adventures back in the day, told and retold with much humour and laughter (and beer)... May your precious memories and love for Jim grow stronger as your lives go on. Rest easy, Jim.

Dear Barb and the children, and Heather, Brian, Kyle and Kathryn, please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved husband, dad, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Heather spoke to me so much about Jimmy that I felt like I knew him by the time we met. He always had a smile and loved a chat and conversation whenever I ran into him here in Conception Bay South. May your own pleasant memories help carry you all in your time of grief. Please know that Michelle and I hold you all in our hearts during this difficult time. Rest in peace Jimmy. Sincerely, Kenny and Michelle, CBS, NL

Dear Barb and family:
I have picked the Heart and Stroke foundation as my gift because Jim and Wall both passed as a result of heart issues.
I was so sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I know what you are going through now Barb. I can only hope that with time your heart ache will subside a little. It will always be there, but will get a little easier with that passing of time.
All your family memories will help you get through this most difficult time.
Rely on your friends and family for support and stay in contact with them. Always
always say yes to invitations. Being in company of others keeps your mind occupied, which I found very helpful.
My thoughts are with all of you.
Stay strong.

To Barb and Family,
On behalf of your friends at The Hutton Group, our deepest sympathy on Jim’s sudden passing. As the sales group representing Maritime Paper’s NL Operations, Jim stood shoulder to shoulder with us every day! The stories are plenty and the memories endless…his coffee cup no one was allowed to wash, his big infectious laugh, cycling to work, keeping us all on our toes, having our backs, his passion for golf, his wide range of music genres from Jazz to Zappa to Neil Young… and of course, his fierce love for his family. He truly was one-of-a kind!

Barb and Family,
I'm sorry to hear of Jim's sudden passing my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Jim Wight my leader, my mentor, my friend. I worked side by side with Jim for 20 years and we were not only collogues but great friends.
He taught me so much about the business but we had a lot of fun and made a lot of memories along the way. Hardly a day goes by when I don't think of him and sometimes say to myself what would Jim do in tis situation.
Jim, you have impacted my life in so many ways. Your passion for work, your love for your family, your uniqueness, your leadership skills and all the great attributes you held, helped mold me into the leader I am today.
I will be forever grateful to you for being part of my life. My friend, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.

On behalf of the entire Maritime Paper Family, our deepest condolences Barb and family for the loss of such an iconic member of our family. I personally have many fond memories of Jim as we worked together developing a strong presence for MPP in Newfoundland and Labrador. While he spent most of his days keeping the operation going, his heart was with the people around him and ensuring our customers were well looked after. Everyone knew that if “Jim said it would get it done” it got get done! We will be flying our flags at half mast for the few days as we remember our good friend and colleague. Until we meet again buddy.

Barb and family, please accept our condolences. Jim and I went to cubs together at George Street United Church cubs. That may be where he got his first experience camping. I still remember the fun we had camping despite the mosquitoes, the cold a d rain and learning to cook outdoors. We also played a lot of basketball together on the cubs team . The games were at Gower Street United. And to he times in Ocean Pond and King's Cove learning how to catch trout with bamboo rods with night crawlers we got the night before. We caught 10 tree branches for every trout. I am deeply sorry to hear that Jim has passed away and you are in our prayers. Bob and Bev Wight

Barb, James, Grayce, Allison and Robert, we are so sorry for your loss.
Steve met Jim back in the '90s when Maritime was just setting up shop in Newfoundland which was the start of a 30+ year friendship. When Steve went out on his own in business, Jim put faith in him and gave him his first big design and build job.
Over the years, we have had many good times together - dinners, road trips, concerts, Uhaul training, and our visit to Carleton Place - just to name a few. We eventually got to know and love your whole family and saw first hand how much Jim loved you all.
Our thoughts are with you and we wish we could be there to reminisce and share hugs and tears in person.
Love, Steve and Lori Ann
