Bud and I served together in Ottawa at DGT/DTO. He was a very knowledgeable officer and a loyal friend. He also delighted in destroying me on the squash court! Although I did not know his family, I felt like I did because he talked about you constantly.
We stayed in touch after we both left the military and I spoke to him last week.

Bud and I were longtime friends, starting with being in the same platoon in Apprentice Training in Camp Borden from 1958 to 1960. We were posted to Regina together after apprentice training. Bud went off to Germany in 1962, while I went to Vietnam in 1963. We met up again in 1966 in Kingston, where I met his bride he brought back from Germany. Bud went to Ottawa thereafter, and we visited on occasion. And we always got together when there was an RCASC reunion. He was a one-of-a-kind person, always having a new love in his life. He had a wicked sense of humour that would come out of left field. We had our times together, double-dated with girlfriends, and were always close. The last time I saw him at a reunion in Camp Borden, he was dealing with type two diabetes. He was tired of fighting it and was resolved to taking the needle. We talked on the phone before his cancer, and it seemed to me he was weary and just living day to day. One of the truly nice guys you would want to meet, My condolences to the family. RIP in peace, my friend your duty is done.,

Bud and I met in Kingston in 1969 while we both served in the Army. After retirement we became neighbours on the Madawaska River in 2004 where we watched his family grow up and we shared the joys of living on the water. My deepest sympathies are extended to Bud’s family here and in Germany. RIP Soldier.

My condolences to family and friends. I met Bud along the trail of Morris Island on one of his many hikes/walks to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. He needed a bit of help that day. I was grateful to learn about his time in military and Germany, and was delighted the next time we ran into one another he was there to enjoy so many more walks. Rest in peace Bud
