Obituary of Loyal Durocher

Retired Consolidated Bathurst (Gillies) and owner of D&M Enterprises

With heavy hearts, the family announces that Loyal passed away peacefully at the Arnprior Grove Nursing Home on July 7, 2025 at the age of 92.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Betty Wolfe and daughters, Lori Presley (Greg), Lesley McMann (Scott) and Nicole Chambers (Jeff).

He was a loved Papa by Spencer Presley (Jennifer), Lindsay Hagenah (Adam), Kirsti McMann (Cris Monetta), Audrey McMann, Thomas McMann, Joel Chambers (Gabi Balarezo), Sam McElwee (Patrick) and Papa to Aden, Peyton, Elena, Lydia and Joaquin.

He was the last surviving child of Edgar Durocher and Claraisa Porter.

Loyal was predeceased by his nine siblings: Hildalene Heaney (Wilfred), Eric (Laurette), Earl (Madge), Arvilla Dupuis (Leonard), Wilbert (Merville), Arnold (Cecile), Cinderase Lévesque (Rheal), and Lyman (Loretta).

He is survived by Dionia Durocher (Joan) who meant a lot to Loyal.

He will be greatly missed by his large family of nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Sharon Lake (Dennis) from Edmonton.

Loyal grew up in Waltham, Quebec. He worked as a lumberjack and had a career at Gillies Bros in Waltham and Arnprior. Once retired, was owner of D&M Enterprises, as well as operated a snow removal service. His interests in building, repairing, collecting equipment and making the best maple syrup and maple fudge kept him busy. He enjoyed his pointer boat race days in the 90s and telling stories of his hometown history and all the people he knew.

His family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Arnprior Grove who cared for his well being and happiness!

Loyal’s final care and arrangements has been entrusted to the Pilon Family Home, Arnprior. 

A private family inurnment will take place at Albert Street Columbarium.
