Obituary of Velma Laslo
Wilma “Velma” Laslo passed away on July 24, 2025 a few months short of the remarkable age of 107.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1982, in Kelowna, BC. and continued to live in her own home until near the age of 90 when she relocated to Arnprior, Ontario.
In Arnprior she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Norris Mitten for several years until she moved to Bonnechere Manor where she received excellent care from the staff.
She is predeceased by her daughters, Geraldine Fasek, Helen Nesbit and her eleven siblings.
Velma loved to travel and would often board a Greyhound bus and visit her daughters and siblings throughout Canada.
She also took great delight in baking and cooking, a talent much appreciated by her grandson Chris, who resided in Kelowna and often spent time with her.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she loved to share the Bible’s promise for the earth and the hope of the resurrection to a peaceful earth…as the model prayer says in Matthew 6:10 “Let your Kingdom come.
Let your will be done, As in Heaven also on the Earth.”
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette and Marlene, and grandchildren, Wesley, Chris, Linda, Nicholas and Sandra, Ja’el, Jason and Nathan, and several great grandchildren.
Final care is being provided by the Pilon Family Funeral Home.
