KAERBYE, Knud “Ken”

With sadness, the family announces that Ken passed away rather suddenly at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital while surrounded by loved ones on Sunday morning, July 27, 2025; Knud Kristian Hansen “Ken” Kaerbye of Arnprior was 83 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Eva “Ev” (nee Campbell) Kaerbye (June 16, 2016). Dearly loved Dad of Chris (Susie), Anita Kaerbye-Furgoch (Matt Furgoch) and Crystal Kaerbye-Waterston (Lindsay Waterston). Predeceased by his son, Robin (December 14, 2019). Loved and remembered by his grandchildren: Trinity, Keegan, D’Arcy, Baron and Nolan. Dear brother of Henrik Kaerbye (Birthe). Predeceased by his 2 sisters: Ketty Anderson (Paul) and Edith Sorensen. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Son of the late Joergen and Ingerborg (nee Larsen) Kaerbye.
Dad was born in 1941 in Ringe, on the island of Fyn, Denmark. He spent most of his youth there, where he learned the carpentry trade. After completing his training, he served in the military. Ken had a deep love for travel and explored much of the world before eventually settling in his final destination—Northern Ontario.
Not long after arriving, Dad met the love of his life, Ev. Together, they moved to Arnprior, where they put down roots and built a beautiful family.
Ken was a skilled carpenter, known for his precision, creativity, and dedication to his craft.
He worked for many years at M. Sullivan & Son Ltd., where his talents were well-respected.
Later, he and Ev created the Craft and Ceramic Center—a creative business that brought joy to the community and reflected their shared vision and hard work.
Ken will be remembered for his quiet strength, his craftsmanship, and the deep love he had for his family.
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the home he built, and the memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the
Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning, August 6th from 9:45 to 10:45.
A Service to honour and remember Ken will take place in the Pilon Family Chapel on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock followed by a reception.
