Obituary of Esther Leafloor
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Esther Leafloor, who died surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Esther was born on September 16, 1952 in Arnprior. She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts.
Esther was the beloved wife of Bob Leafloor and the incredibly proud mother of Dori-Anne (Michel Marcelin) and Michael (Christopher Gagnon).
She was the beautiful daughter of the late Dorothy and Meredith Tripp.
Esther was the dearest little sister to the late Lila Mae Hunt (the late Joe) and twins, John (Denyse) and Jim (Margaret) Tripp.
She was affectionately known as "Auntie" to Shaun Hunt, Barbie Khouri (John), Laurie Brazeau (the late Michel), and Cheryl Wood Hunt.
She was most proud of her role as Great Aunt to her great nieces and nephew, Charlee-Mae, Danika, and Nolan Hunt.
Auntie loved cheering them on at their many activities.
She will be missed by close friends Beth MacDonald, Peggy Killeen and Mary Mektaryan.
In addition to being a loving wife and devoted mother, Esther excelled professionally.
While raising two children, she worked for Bell Northern Research (BNR) and Nortel Networks as an Executive Assistant.
The original "W.I.C." (Woman In Charge), Esther was a founding member of Eion Inc. with her dear friends and mentors, Kalai Kalaichelvan and Rama Munikoti.
Esther faced a courageous battle with Grade 4 Glioblastoma, a diagnosis she received in September 2024.
Despite the challenges, she met her illness with remarkable strength, dignity, and humour.
The family extends many thanks to the Ottawa Hospital and its exceptional Neurology and Oncology teams for their compassionate care during the last 10 months.
Esther will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
