I played football with "Johnny Mitchell" and never knew what happened to him after that circa 1969. He certainly made his mark after I read all of his accomplishments in the north
...a true Canadian. Rest in peace Johnny.

Mitch and I had just spent time together reminiscing about our olden days. We had known each other for 49 years. My daughter had babysat Free and Raven. The Swede Creek and Sunnydale gang had a lot of fun together. Mitch and I had our picture taken together in July. So my memories of a dear friend will always be there.

I had never met a true hero before Mitch. With no ego or agenda Mitch quietly went about protecting and supporting his community in every way he could. As someone who does not believe in putting people on pedestals, I truly admired and looked up to Mitch as an example of how one should walk through the world. Beyond all of that, Mitch was able to put a smile on my face every time I saw him with his gentle good humour and respect. The loss of his prescence will be deeply felt.
