Mrs. Koot, Norbert, Maryanne and Cathy, Sorry to hear the news, I will always remember your dad for his logical thinking, his care for people around him (family, friends and students) and his fantastic sense of humour (as Cathy mentioned in the service). Attaching a photo of the fun times we shared together in February 1981 on a ski trip to the cabin. Everyone, including Rusty, enjoyed this trip. Those were the days! I am touched by the passing of uncle BilI and remember him as a friendly and caring man. Our sons still cherish a vivid recollection of uncle Bill taking them for an adventurous drive on his tractor during our visit to Canada in 2010, making their day. Also for Machteld and me that visit to you and uncle Bill in your lovely house remains a precious memory.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I was a student of his at ADHS and participated in the Chrysler trouble shooting competition. He was always well organized and very patient with the redneck students in his charge Lol. I too remember his Citroen car coming into the shop. R.I.P.

Dear aunt Betty, dear Maryanne, Cathy and Norbert, The news of the passing of my dear uncle and godfather has touched me deeply. We, back here in the Netherlands, were thrilled, the couple of times you came to visit. On one of these visits, uncle Bill said to me that he surely was a lousy godfather, because he never was there! True, me living in Amsterdam. But how wrong he was! He was very special to me, with his generous laugh, his energy, his curiosity (when on one occasion we drove the Dutch highway, he wanted to know all about the engineering principles behind the infrastructure of the Netherlands, of which, of course, I knew nothing and still don’t). On that visit, he brought me a present: a huge book with pictures of the Sixtine Chapel. Just beautiful. How did he know I love art? He just knew. I will rembember him that way, a warm and loving man, and am grateful for having had such a wonderful uncle. Love to all of you from Amsterdam and Berlin. Pauline

I remember how welcoming Bill (and Betty) Koot were to me when Maryanne brought me over for a quick visit on our way to a movie in Renfrew. I had heard that Bill could be quiet, stoic, serious, and so was surprised to find him warm and engaging, and funny! He seemed genuinely interested in me and my ‘story’, and as we were getting ready to leave he insisted that we return someday soon for a meal which we did. Whether it was ‘helping’ us install a new hardwood floor (he did 90% of the work) or troubleshooting car problems, I always found Bill to be a generous and caring man. I am lucky to have had him as a father-in-law.

Betty & Family, My sincerest sympathy to all of you on the death of Bill. I recall his love of music and his enthusiasm singing in OLPH Braeside Church Choir, many years ago when I was organist.
