Obituary of Bill Cox

William Arthur “Bill” Cox

(Retired Federal Civil Servant)

With heavy hearts, the family announces that following a long and courageous journey through dementia, Bill passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Saturday afternoon, November 29, 2025. Bill Cox of Woodlawn was 88 years of age. Beloved husband and best friend for over 62 years of Wava (nee Johnston). Much loved Dad of Ken (Sharon) and Darwin (Gwen). Cherished Grandpa of Haleigh Cox (Gabe Lyndon), Owen Cox, Ava Cox and Ben Cox. Dear brother of Elroy Cox , Marilyn Robillard (late Jack) and the late Marion Smith (late Ron). Forever loved foster brother of the late Betty McFarlane (late Scott) and Ruth Bell (late Scott). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Though Bill was the son of the late Arthur and Gertrude Cox, he became a foster son to Ken and Mary Owens of Dirleton at a very young age. Bill always considered them to be his parents as they raised him as one of their own. Bill always said that Mary was his Angel.

Bill was a well travelled man who still enjoyed the simple things in life. His family always came first. His many interests most always included the great outdoors. Fishing, hunting, gardening with Wava brought him great joy. Bill loved his 1972 GMC truck. Trips to the cottage on PEI, vacations with his kids, encouraging his grandchildren at the rinks…these were the things that Bill loved most in life. His kind, gentle and neighborly demeanor will be remembered by the many who had the honour to call him “friend”

Bill’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior where visitation will take place on Sunday morning, December 7th from 9:15 to 10:45. A Service to remember Bill will follow in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock with a reception to be held immediately afterward.

The service will be webcast live for those unable to attend. (Click Here)

Interment will take place at St. George’s Cemetery, Fitzroy Harbour in the Spring of 2026.

In Bill’s memory, a donation to the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
