Obituary of Maureen Taylor-Abel
Maureen Taylor-Abel
With profound sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Maureen Taylor-Abel, on January 14, 2026.
Maureen died while surrounded by her loving family following a long, courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
She will be dearly missed by her beloved children, Josh, Julie-Anne (Andrew), and her much loved grandson Taylor.
She will also be missed by her loving family Anne Taylor, Mary Atkinson, Mark Taylor (Gloria), John Taylor,
chosen sister Tracy Whyte Reid (David) and godson Simon Houle.
She was also very fortunate to be surrounded by the love and support of numerous friends, nieces and nephews.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Jack & Arvella (Powell), as well as brothers Michael (Karen) and Kevin (Lorraine),
sister in law Carmen Taylor and brother in law Bob Atkinson.
Maureen’s love for Josh, Julie, and Taylor were her motivation and her priority always.
She loved her time with family and especially at the cottage surrounded by love, listening to stories and enjoying the beauty that it holds.
Maureen fought her courageous battle with humor and positivity, and even through this very tough time she always looked for the joy that life offered.
A very special thank you to Maureen’s sister, best friend, and partner in crime, Anne Taylor,
who brought Maureen so many laughs, held her hand through the rough times,
and was there for her through the numerous Chemo treatments, staycations and road trips which were many.
To her brother John, thank you, for making her final few years and months so special, she loved time at the cottage with her family, and couldn’t wait to head up no matter how she felt. To Mary and Mark for all their love and continued support. She was truly blessed to have all her families love and support over all these years and especially the past few months.
A huge thank you to Bob for his love and guidance while walking this journey together.
We would also like to thank Dr. Rachael Goodwin
for her support in Mom’s journey and her determination to beat the prognosis given to her, which she did in true Maureen fashion.
A very special thank you to the Chemotherapy Unit Nurses, Meghan, Kaitlin, Drea, Tia and Sam, for their kindness, compassion and ongoing love for her during every appointment, which were many.
