With broken hearts yet grateful for a well-lived life, generously shared with many, the family announces that Cecil passed away suddenly yet peacefully at home on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Born March 16th 1928, Cec was almost 98 years of age. The family finds comfort knowing that he has been reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 75 years, Gloria, who predeceased him on June 1, 2025.
Dearly loved Dad of Susan Scheel (Bill), Julie Devecseri (Bill) and Peter Goold (Stephanie Rennick). Cherished and proud Grandpa of Laura Lewis (Shawn), Kristen Scheel (Yandu Oppacher), Heather Foster (Colin), Chris Devecseri (Jessica), Ben Devecseri (Shohannah Smith), Graydon Goold (Hannah Aubin) and Barrett Goold. Great-Grandpa of Reed, Camryn, Clark, Ryder, Jasper, Maelle, Knox, Lincoln, Finn, Bodhi, Claire, Colton and Callie.
Cecil was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Dorothy, his sister Kay Denison (late William), Billy (Joyce), Eddy (late Jackie), Gary Holz (Brenda) and survived by his brother John (late Bev).
Lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends who had the pleasure of knowing Cec.
Cec was initiated into The Builders’ Lodge No. 177 on October 10th, 1952 rising to Worshipful Master during its 100th anniversary in 1965. He was a proud Mason and was active in other Masonic bodies including Tunis Shriners and Royal Arch Masons. In recognition of his contributions to Freemasonry, Cec was appointed Grand Junior Deacon for 2015-16.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior where visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 5th from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m., which is open to friends and family,
Visitation will resume on Friday morning, March 6th from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m.
The Funeral Service will be held in Emmanuel Anglican Church, Arnprior on Friday morning at 11 a.m. followed by interment at the Malloch Road Cemetery, Arnprior. Reception Carlton Reid Memorial Hall at Emmanuel.
In memory of Cecil, a donation to Emmanuel Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
