Obituary of Eleanor Hotchkiss

Eleanor Hotchkiss

(nee Jackson)

With broken hearts, the family announces that Eleanor passed away suddenly and unexpectedly

at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital with her daughter by her side on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Velma Eleanor Hotchkiss of Arnprior was 83 years young.

Beloved wife of the late Jack Hotchkiss (2013).

Dearly loved and devoted Mom of Norman (Pauline Brown), Hayley de Bie (Felix) and Mark (Tara and late Tracey).

Cherished and doting Grandma of Logan, Shayla, Brianna and Joshua Hotchkiss, Riley and Maddie Johnson, Kaden de Bie (Laura) and Jasper de Bie.

Dear sister of Janet Villemaire (Paul) and Anne Aitchison (Don).

Predeceased by her 3 brothers: Stewart Jackson (late Dinah), Robert Jackson (late June) and Franklin Jackson.

Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends and neighbors and countless fellow card players.

Daughter of the late Bob and Velma (nee McNally) Jackson.

Eleanor was born in rural Glenelg Township near Durham, Ontario and often referred to herself as a “farm girl” when it came to getting things done.

Her practical and supportive instincts served her well in her career as a Registered Nursing Assistant.

She continued to care for and about people in her community throughout her life, in various volunteer roles, wherever she lived.

Her enjoyment of life, which included waterskiing, skidoo racing, and skiing during her ‘younger years’, matured into a love of tamer activities, including golf and Bridge.

She loved Life, putting a lot into it and getting much back in return.

Eleanor’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the

Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior

where visitation will take place on Wednesday morning, March 18th from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

A Service to honour and remember Eleanor will be held in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock followed by a reception.

The service will be webcast live for those unable to attend. (Click Here)

Internment will take place in the family plot at Zion Glenelg Community Cemetery later in the Summer.

In memory, donations to the Arnprior/Braeside and McNab Seniors at Home Program would be greatly appreciated by the family.
