So saddened by this news.
I’ve known the Juby family since I was a little girl and my most vivid memory of Dub growing up was his daily swim. If I recall correctly, it would be early evening, and everyday, like clockwork, he would swim across the lake. I loved watching him because he was such a beautiful swimmer. He barely made a ripple in the water, you could see him moving and yet there was almost complete silence.
I also remember the two level diving platform he built. Summer hadn’t officially started until we were all there jumping, diving, and swimming, while our mothers took turns “counting heads” to make sure we were all accounted for. I recall, too, watching him carve, so focused as he worked to create the beautiful pieces of art for which he became known.
He was a soft spoken man and a quiet presence, yet he brought so much joy to those summers. I feel grateful to have known him. He will always be remembered.
Our deepest condolences to his family, may treasured memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.❤️

We are so saddened to hear of the loss of Dub..... the Ledgend! His memory will live on in the homes of so many through his beautiful carvings. We have one in particular that we cherish - a man sitting on a rock ledge, deep in thought.....as well as two cardinals, a male and a female which grace our mantel. We will always remember Dub as a kind and gentle man with fondness and respect. All who knew him will forever pass the Juby corner on River Road and think of him.
Rest in Peace Del after a live well lived.

Our sincere condolences to Dub wife and family. I got to know him in the mid 80s when I was looking for an unique gift for people I was doing business with from Arkansas and of course ended up with a few of Dub's carvings which were a huge hit. After that i had the pleasure of spending some time with him on motorcycle rides. He knew all the bikes!! Always enjoyed my time with him.
We have lost a Valley Legend.

Sending our deepest condolences to the Juby family. Dub had a presence about him that made him memorable. Soft spoken and a free spirit, he was an interesting character. He and my dad were good friends for a long time. My dad even modelled for Dub’s “old man” collection of carvings back in the day because of his beard and now he is the old man! lol
So many memories. Such a huge loss. Rest well Buddy.

My condolences to everybody who knew and loved Dub Juby. My late friend Lillian Kassell always spoke fondly of Dub and his wife. She left me one of his carvings. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dub myself and seeing his studio during an art tour quite a few years ago now. You've left behind a beautiful Legacy for your family. When you see Lillian please tell her Tanya thinks about her everyday... ❤️

My memories of Delbert started in the early 1970's (grade 6) when he would take Dale and I up to explore his "Ashdad Bush" where we would canoe and fish on Juby's Lake and Chamberlain Lake, and perhaps harvest the odd red squirrel as a treat for the carving shop owl. The old cedar canoe, that was hung in a tree on Chamberlain Lake, had a rifle shot hole in the bottom. Delbert would, grab a piece of pine on ground and instantly whittle up a plug to swell and keep the water at bay . He could clean a Pike on the stairs of the camp with the same surgeon like skill and speed he demonstrated creating a detailed carving. He taught us about the trees, the animals and lots about life in general. I make those excursions to that bush, several times per year, to this day. The lessons and memories will last a lifetime. Along with Dale, Delbert will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to all his family and friends.

Delbert was a very special man. He was such a talented carver and I can say he even let me stain his beautiful carvings sometimes. It was a pleasure to sit in his shop and have our little chats. I was lucky enough to be his daughter-in-law for a time. We shared many wonderful family dinners and our children had lots of fun at Grandpa’s, sledding and playing softball and picking vegetables and flowers. Lots of lovely memories and he will always be in my heart. Sending my heartfelt condolences and hugs,
Cathy
