Obituary of John Goodwin

With broken hearts the family announces that John passed away peacefully, with his wife Alana by his side at Hospice Renfrew on Wednesday evening, April 22, 2026.

He was 53.

Beloved husband of Alana (nee Houldcroft) for over 25 years.

Loved and cherished Dad of Stephanie Goodwin (Ziggy).

Treasured grandpa of Phoebe.

Deeply loved son of Peter and Sandra (nee Miller) Goodwin.

Dearly loved brother of Pam Atherton (late Mark), Connie Wieland (Roger) and Gerry (late Monique), and brother-in-law of Jeff Houldcroft (Kersten).

Loved uncle of Karolyn, Curtis, Aaron, Melissa, Morgan and Matthew. Fondly remembered by his great uncle to his great nieces and nephews.

John will be missed by his best friends, Tim Dazé (Katie Paglia) and Darcy Wall (Michelle).

A man surrounded by love and family, John treasured the time he was able to share with all those close to him. He always found joy in the simplicity of the outdoors. Nothing could quite put a smile on his face quite like a chilly November hunt, or a quiet morning fishing on the river, especially with Alana by his side. A perfect evening always included a warm campfire to top it off. Though nature always held a spot in his heart, he loved his family more than anything. His daughter and granddaughter brought his whole world together. He will be greatly missed.

John’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home, Arnprior.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation which will be held on Saturday, June 27^th from 11:30-2:30.

A Graveside Service to honour John will take place at the Albert Street Columbarium at 3pm.

Reception to follow at Sandra’s house. Please bring along a chair and some snacks as we celebrate John’s birthday together.
