With heavy hearts, the family announces that John passed away peacefully at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital early Thursday morning, May 7, 2026;

John Currie of Arnprior was 91 years of age. Beloved husband for over 57 years of Bonnie (nee Wilmot). Dear father of Shawn and Dawn (Ray Ouellette).

Cherished and proud “Poppa John” of Christopher Currie (Catherine), Matthew Currie (Kristen Charron-Peak), Jeffrey Currie and Jessica Currie

and Great-Grandpa of Nathan, Kaylee, Ethan and Addison.

Dear brother of Michael Currie (late Diane), Mary Blimkie (MJ) and Annette Dupuis (John McNulty) and stepbrother of John Gilmette (Carol) and the late Earl Gilmette (Roxy).

Predeceased by siblings: Rita Clouthier, Doreen Duncan (late Doug), Eileen Currie and Caroline Currie.

Also survived by his nieces and nephews and many great friends.

Son of the late Archie Currie and the late Kathleen Gilmette (nee Scott).
 

John loved the outdoors.

Hunting and fishing were great pastimes for him.

He also took part in many different sports over the years.

His laughter and great sense of humour will be remembered by the many who had the opportunity to call him “friend”.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Arnprior Hospital for the genuine and loving care provided to John during his final days.

His final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the

Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior

where visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 11^th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning, May 12^th from 9:45 to 10:45.

A Service to honour and remember John will take place in the Pilon Family Chapel on Tuesday morning at 11 o:clock.

A reception will follow.

Private family interment at Malloch Road Cemetery, Arnprior as a later date.

In memory of John, a donation to the Arnprior Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
