Michael “Mike” McHale

With shattered hearts, the family announces that Mike passed away suddenly yet very peacefully at home on Friday morning, May 8, 2026; Michael Joseph McHale was 75 years of age.
Beloved husband for over 55 years of Elaine (nee Evans). Dearly loved Dad of Shelley Frechette (and her husband Andrew) and the late Shauna McHale (August 26, 1988).
Cherished and proud Grandpa of Lindsay and Carter. Much loved brother of Marilyn Robertson, Sharon Sample and Roseanne Carroll (Mike).
Predeceased by his brother, Tom (Kathie). Dear brother-in-law and good friend of Rayburn Evans.
Also survived and lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many wonderful friends.
Son of the late Tom and Theresa (Nee Smith) McHale.
Mike dedicated more than 30 years to the Ottawa Catholic School Board as a respected head custodian, beginning his career at St. Michael’s Catholic School before moving to All Saints Catholic High School.
One of his greatest achievements in his career was winning the Director of Education award in 2009.
He retired from the OCSB in 2012. He also spent over a decade driving for Monarch Transportation Services, where he genuinely enjoyed the relationships he built with the students he transported each day.
Outside of work, Mike loved camping and travelling with his family, playing euchre, watching hockey, and spending countless hours cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events and tournaments near and far.
Known for his quick wit and teasing nature, he brought laughter wherever he went and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kindness, and deep devotion to his family.
Michael’s final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the
Pilon Family Funeral Home in Arnprior
where visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, May 12th from 6 to 9 p.m. only.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in
St. Michael’s Church, Fitzroy Harbour
on Wednesday morning, May 13th at 11 o’clock followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery.
