Obituary of Heather MacDonald

Heather Carolyn MacDonald, age 79, of Arnprior, passed away on July 5th after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Arnprior on June 4, 1947, Heather was the daughter of Clifton and Emily MacDonald.

Heather attended St. Patrick's College (now Carleton University) where she studied English before beginning her career at TV Ontario, later moving to CBC where she worked as a producer for ’90 Minutes Live’ with Peter Gzowski.

In future years, Heather opened her own business in conflict resolution (‘Sticks and Stones’) before again changing paths to teach ‘Roots of Empathy’ to elementary school children.

Known for her generous spirit and unique ability to make others feel valued and recognized, Heather had a deep passion for women’s rights and led multiple marches in Toronto during the 1990’s movement to ‘take back the night’, making streets safer for women in the city.

Heather's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, often hosting dinner parties around holidays and celebrations.

Heather is survived by her children, Morgan and Dorinda; her partner, David; and the children of her predeceased brother, Dean, and his wife, Beverly, along with their families.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 30th from 11am to 2pm at Café Postino, located at 73 Mill St, in Almonte.
