Obituary of Jan Van der Veer

Jan, age 78 of Braeside and formerly Ottawa, Ontario passed away peacefully in his home overlooking the Ottawa river on Friday, February 2, 2024.  He immigrated to Canada on July 30, 1966 from the Netherlands. He is predeceased by his brother Leo (Truujse). Jan is survived by his sister Marijke (Bart) and brother Ben (Marjo), son Kristopher (Joanna), their daughters Katherine and Victoria; daughter Monika (Lisa Commanda). Jan previously worked for CIBC and the federal government where he made many friends. Some of his favourite interests included the Ottawa Power and Sail Squadron and the Scotch Tasting Club. Jan enjoyed life to the fullest and some would describe him as larger than life. He lived a life of no regrets and left on his own terms. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Renfrew County Paramedics and Dr. Forfar.

Jan’s care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home, 50 John Street North, Arnprior where visitation will take place on Friday afternoon, February 9^th from 2 - 2:45. A Tribute to Jan will be held in the Pilon Family Chapel at 3pm. Reception to follow. The service will be webcast live for those unable to attend.
