Obituary of Robert "Rob" Larabie

March 30, 1952 - March 18, 2024

Robert "Rob" Larabie, 71 of Arnprior passed away peacefully and gently at home with his beloved wife, Ronalda and sister Carole by his side on March 18, 2024 after a 2 ½ year struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig disease).

Rob was pre-deceased by his parents, Roger and Gilbert (Huet) Larabie of Kapuskasing.

He was the best friend, partner and husband of Ronalda MacIsaac. He leaves behind six grieving brothers and sisters namely:

Suzanne (late Lorne) Girard of Peterborough, ON; René (Rose) of Kapuskasing, ON; Claude (Lily) of Blainville, QC; Marc (Roseann) of Braeside, ON; Carole Blais of Arnprior, ON; Gilles (Kellie) of Orleans, ON as well as brothers-in-law, Donald (Laurette) MacIsaac, Renfrew, On and Dennis (Roseanne) MacIsaac, Barry’s Bay, On. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Rob was a kind, caring son, husband, brother and friend to all who had the great privilege of knowing him. Even the furry four-legged domesticated critters he met on his daily walks would run to meet him dragging their owners behind for that special ear scratch only he could give.

When he wasn’t working at his day job as a Power Maintenance Electrician for Ontario Power Generation you could find him on cross country ski trails, out on the backroads of Ontario, Quebec and sometimes New York State riding his motorcycle or at home working on some carpentry project.

Never one to sit still, after retirement he continued with his hobbies including making sourdough bread, Italian style pasta or creating another stain glass window hanging or lamp shade.

Rob was an intelligent, inquisitive individual who was a life-long learner. He never stopped taking courses in subjects that interested him from Beekeeping to Computer Programming.

He could master almost anything he set his mind on including operating Transport trucks and heavy equipment.

He was there for his family or friends day or night and was loved by all and is and will be greatly missed.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Pilon Family Funeral Home, 50 John Street North, Arnprior.

In Rob’s memory, please consider a donation to the ALS Society of Canada.
