MEEHAN, Mary
1924 - 2011
Peacefully in hospital, on Saturday, February 19, 2011: her last hours surrounded by family. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph "Joe" Meehan. She is survived by her children: Bill (Sue), Charlotte (Bernie Costello), Martha (Don Millar), Connie (Peter Wright) and Ross (Jim Collins) and grandchildren: Joseph, Darrin and Kelly; Theresa (deceased 1980), Karen, Mark, Blair and Pamela; Christopher and Natalie; and Jason, Amanda and Philip and many great grandchildren. Mary grew up on a farm in Corkery, (now the Herb Garden); daughter of the late John and Susan Scott (nee Gossen) . Predeceased by her seven siblings, Theresa Stack, Kathleen Currie/Gilmette, Rose Farrell, Rita-Sarah Scott, Manus Scott, Walter Scott and Matthew Scott. Mary and Joseph Meehan farmed the Meehan family homestead in Corkery and raised their children there. Mary enjoyed a successful real estate career from the early 80's until just a couple of years ago. From 1968 until last summer, she spent her summers at her cottage on the Upper Rideau. Her devotion to God was one of the most important elements of her life. Mary's love, strong will and incredible energy will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Her offspring and their offspring will forever carry the torch of her life and her love. Family and friends are invited to the Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata for visitation on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. only. Then to rest in her beloved St. Michael's Church, Corkery on Wednesday morning, February 23rd from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church at 11 o'clock. Spring interment St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Almonte. In memory of Mary, a donation made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by her family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Pilon Family Funeral Home, 50 John Street North, Arnprior in cooperation with Rick Nolan and the staff of the Kelly Funeral Home.
