Rod was a good volunteer member at the Kanata Singles club for more than a few years
for the last 4-5 years. He handled our public relations and did surveys,to bring out
a better public input and help do his part to get the club recognized, and to help with different ideas and get our good club more acceptance as a club of choice.Sometimes he and I,handled the food with the catering and entree section of
our evening"s and we had some rough, but at times our own humerous ways of handling him the patrons and in nour fewer number or larger in number food orders.
I know we're all going to miss him, he had some funny character trait's that was a blend of his own humour, but we will all miss him, when he worked with us he did what he could even when at times we were short on some people. But for myself and for all our current board members,I want to give Susan, his wife our condolences. On behalf of the Kanata Singles club thank you Rod.

Rod was an honest straight forward person. I know him through our work at the National Council of Aboriginal Employees. He was a valued volunteer and was willing to share his expertise and made time to help the Council. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Rod's family and friends. I remember his committment and love of story telling from the short time we worked together at the RCMP. He was one of the first 'real' individuals I met when I came to work at our National HQ. I was sad to hear the news of his passing. He will be fondly remembered by his former RCMP colleagues, Heather Hamilton, RCMP Communications

I am so honoured to have been Rods friend. I am going to miss him so...What I cherished most is the way he seen the world and how he would express it - he had such a way with words; the unexpected visits and meals he spent with my family; our peculiar sense of humour; and mostly the comforting feeling I had when he was around. I am however comforted by love he was shown by his wife Sue, brother David and those that were around him during his last days - what a blessing they are.. While we are mourning the loss of Rod, others are calling his name, "Ukimawgamic".

Rod and I were co-workers, albeit in different cities, for a number of months. I will not forget his sense of perspective, his calmness, and his directness. He mattered.

I came to know Rod when I was appointed Associate Deputy Minister of Justice in 2005. Early on in that role I was asked to speak on behalf of the Minister at the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards & Rod offered to help me prepare for that speaking role. He was so enormously helpful and encouraging as a colleague. Later on when I took on the champion role for Employment Equity within Justice Canada, our paths crossed again because of Rod's active participation as a member of the Advisory Committee of Aboriginal Peoples within Justice Canada. Rod cared deeply about justice issues & it was a privilege for me to have worked with him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

At this time, I offer my condolences to all among Rod's circle. A gentle, proud soul, I came to know and admire Rod’s determination and dedication in both work and life. We shared mutual interests in our culture, work, music collections, photography, outdoors, travel, discussing justice and the latest media trends, news headlines and hockey, and ogling electronic gadgets. Rod and I worked together as communication colleagues at the TRC. But mostly, we were friends. Nancy Pine Senior Communications and Outreach Advisor Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada

Hi Sue and David. My condolences to you both as well as to Rod's Mom and siblings. I know how much you loved Rod and were so good to him (and still are). It sounds like a lovely ceremony that you are organizing and I look forward to it and to remembering Rod with all of you. He was a dear colleague, then friend to me. I'll always remember lots of laughs and swims at the lake, sharing good music, debates about current events, and some special work-related projects that both meant a lot to us, e.g. concerning Aboriginal justice issues. I am grateful for my friendship with the two of you, thanks to Rod, and I've been making some new friends, too, as I discovered in recent weeks what a wide and wonderful network of friends Rod had. Take care. Jennifer
