I was shocked and saddened to hear the news when I first arrived in Whitehorse. Sharon was a very successful realtor, one of whom I know you are all very proud. I am happy to know that she also had "a life" in a career where so many get caught up in the busyness of the business. Imagine a life so well lived and a journey to the end which started on an evening with friends and ended surrounded by the love of such a great family. Sharon was a beautiful, remarkable, and amazing lady - an example for others and one that I would be proud to follow. I learned many things from her.
I met Sharon approximately 10 years go and we became friends.
Although Sharon and I did not spend a lot of time together, we stayed very "connected". I would like to share two of the many "memories" I will keep forever.
In one of our conversations, I learned that Sharon could play the piano - - and very well. She was so modest! So, I gave her copies of a few piano duets, and she went to work at practicing them. Then we got together for a "musical duet" evening - just the two of us. We had a ball! Sharon and I played piano duets all night long! We didn't have many different ones so we just kept playing the same ones over and over and over and over. We laughed and laughed as we played them. We had fun but the neighbors were probably wishing we'd stop. We were again planning to get together for another evening of piano duets soon. She was practicing (or, I should say … she was supposed to be practicing)
I think Sharon invited me to every party she ever hosted - - - at least, it felt that way. Jewelry parties, bridal showers, baby showers, office/staff parties….She was always doing something kind to show honor to her family and friends. She's the only person I know who ever invited me to a bridal shower where the bride-to-be came into the room and said to me .... "I don't know you". And, I said … "you're right - I don't know you either, but Sharon invited me, so here I am!" Sharon wanted her friends to be friends together.
I think success in life is achieved when someone else's life is better for having known us. Sharon made a "difference" in many people's lives, and in mine. Her friendship was a blessing and a gift.
