I first met Bud when I was a 23 year old know it all. It took Bud 22 years to show me how to appreciate life and how to make it better for everyone that I came into contact with. In all this time, Bud never lost his patience or his will to make me a better man. When I moved my family to the Ottawa area, both Bud and Bette took my wife and kids as their extended family. Bud was always there for us, no matter the circumstances. I will miss him a lot. When my father died a few years ago, it left an empty space in my life. That space has now doubled with Bud's passing. To Bette, Tim and Lori, I truly am sorry for your huge loss. To Bud, we will meet again, Marc, Sue, Matthew and Amanda

In my mind time of need many years ago, when I was in 7th grade, and at the passing of my grandfather, I will never forget that walk that Bud took me on to both console me, and talk to me about my new responsibilities, and to imperceptably (at the time) avert my attention from the greiving I was feeling that day. I never forgot what he did for me that day; and I had the good fortune to thank him for that and how much it has always meant to me; before his final day. He taught me many things, that I will never forget and will always be thankfull for. He has done what anyone can only wish for, to have left the world a much better place, for so many many reasons.

My condolences to Bud's family. I will never forget what Buddy did for my son Kevin and myself at the funeral of Frank Hayes. Frank was my children's beloved grandfather and we had returned from Toronto for his funeral when Kevin and Karen were in grade school. Kevin ran out of the Church midway through the funeral of his grandfather - not able to handle the service. I was sitting in a front pew and distraught at Kevin's departure. Bud came from a few rows behind, tapped me on the shoulder and said "don't worry, I'll look after him". Kevin ran to grandpa Haye's house, near the Church. Bud found him in the bedroom, told him to change into jeans, and took him down to the town park where he consoled him and from what I understand, they had a great chat. When we all got back from the Church, Kevin was calmed down. I have never forgotten that and apparently never has Kevin because he had the opportunity a few weeks ago to express his appreciation to Bud for what had done before he passed away. Kevin has had an ongoing friendship and relationship with Timmy and Lori Anne and they have helped him through many tumultuous time and been great friends to him. Then, years later, in 2005 at the 50's High School Reunion, there were Bud and Bette dancing the first dance and I thought of that day many years ago when Bud had helped me (and us ) through a rough time. Thanks Bud and thanks to your whole family for being such caring people. May you take comfort in the fact that your husband and father was such a wonderful mentor to so many.

I was sorry to read of "Bud's" passing but this sorrow is tempered by the knowledge that he has gone to a better place where there is no more pain and he is at peace. I remember our last meeting, at the High School reunion in 2005 and recall his positive outlook despite his illness. I am only sorry that we were not to meet again. Please know that the prayers of our family are with you all in this time of grief. Ted Fiander

Bette, Lori and Tim - I was so saddened to hear of Bud's passing. I have so many great memories with all of you: sleep overs with Lori at your home, trips to the cottage, tap dancing in our fabulous costumes and Bud was always a fixture in all of those events. He was a real gentleman and I fondly remember that he was always smiling and teasing. I wish you all great peace in this time of sorrow.
