Obituary of Ted Sloan
April 28, 1939 – May 7, 2021
At peace and loved in Arnprior Friday, May 7th 2021. Son of the late James F. Sloan and the late Marguerite T. Coleman. Survived by sons Martin (Sandra), Kevin (Tanja), Warren and daughter Marianne (Ron). Loved by grandchildren; Pamela, Ryker, Jenna, Jodi, Jason and Ryan; Kirscha; Curtis and Tyler; Jessica, Madison and Kayley. Proud great-grandfather of eight. Brother of Nona, the late Joan and Mary Ellen. Cherished by nieces and nephews. Chum to countless friends and acquaintances. Ted was a self-taught musician, playing drums and jamming with club bands during his twenties through forties, all the while working as a train signalman, bookkeeper and salesmen. He then became an entrepreneur operating the concession and souvenir shop at Lulu’s Roadhouse in Kitchener. After he sold his interests, he moved around the Caribbean for a few years before returning to Canada and eventually settled in Arnprior. He returned to bookkeeping for a while in Ottawa before deciding to cut back for health reason, doing occasional bookkeeping and tax returns for local businesses and residents. From an early gift of a camera in high school, Ted continued his hobby of recording his life adventures on film. He had a love of travel to warm destinations, enjoyed the outdoors and open air driving. Having owned several motorcycles and convertibles in his life, he would often hook a small trailer to car or motorcycle and set out to explore the country. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. As he often said; “Having a ball”. Here’s hoping he still is. A Celebration of Life will be planned for at a future date. Ted’s final care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior.
