I am so sorry for your loss. My remembrances of Mr. Lavoie run many years back. He and my father, Gerald Bullard, were hunting pals. I have found pictures of both men in their hunting regalia set in the great outdoors of the White Lake area. I used to visit regularly my Aunt Pansy Laderoute when she was working at the Arnprior Chronicle. Many times I was delighted to speak with Mr. Lavoie. I also enjoyed reading his many articles in the Chronicle and I believe he mentioned both my father and my father-in-law Dan Herrick in some of his articles. He truly loved Arnprior. It was evident in his writings and in his conversations. When my father died in 1968, my mother Kathie Bullard gave my father's favorite hunting rifle to Mr. Lavoie. There was no other person who deserved it more than he did. The lights of Arnprior are somewhat dimmer without him-one of Arnprior's most favorite sons. I so much admired him, respected him and enjoyed my conversations with him. Please accept my condolences. Most Sincerely, Susan (Bullard) Herrick Kingston, Ontario

I was so sorry to read of Leo's passing. It marks the end of an era, not only for his family but for the town of Arnprior and its citizens. My late father used to visit with him at the Telegraph Office, considered him a good friend and enjoyed their time of fellowship together. I always looked forward to his articles in the Arnrpior Chronicle-Guide. They were the highlight of my reading week and were greatly missed when he was no longer able to write them. I will remember him with fondness and often think of and use the sentence with which he closed his stories "Don't Worry About Growing Old. Some People Never Get The Chance." Leo, Praise God, got the chance and used it to the full. Our prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Ted Fiander, Nepean ON.

Please convey to Anne and the members of the family our sincerest sympathies and prayerful best wishes on the death of Leo. For us, Leo was a strong Parishioner and, in my time, a great leader in the Parish who contributed so much to the faith life of the community; I am remembering the great contribution he made to the history of the Parish when he published the book in my term as Pastor. We just heard via e-mail of his passing while here in Portugal, and only today on the day of his funeral which I surely would have been at if not away out of the country. Be assured of a special rememberance in our next Mass for his eternal happiness. I write on behalf of Fr. Dan Miller, Fr Howard Chabot with whom I am vacationing in Portugal. Fr. Murray Tardiff

Dear Family was so sorry to hear of the passing of Leo, but content that he lived such a long, full, and good life. His fame had spread wider than perhaps even you know. Once during the time when I was teaching in Egypt, I was approached by a younger teacher from Western Canada who wanted to know if I was related to Leo Lavoie. The young man was very impressed to learn that he was my uncle. Please drop me a note when you can to tell me how your mother is and convey to her my most heartfelt condolences We have made a contribution to St. John' Chrysostom in Leo's memory. Your cousin, David

Sorry to hear of his passing. Leo was quite the guy. He always had time to say hello and have a conversation with us teenagers. How did the baseball or hockey game go, and his writings in the Crocodile, quite often he would mention our names. How could we not forget his very distinctive walk, I can see him now, walking down John Street on his way back to work. Lastly, everyone remembers Leo being a solid pillar of the Church.
