To Steve, Kim & the Dodd Family - I was so sorry to hear of Carrie's passing. I know how difficult it is to lose a sibling suddenly, but I can only imagine the sorrow of losing a child. May you draw close together, finding the strength and support you need in each other, and may your reminiscing bring you joy for the life you shared with Carrie. As much as you mourn the loss of the future that might have been, celebrate that much more the time you shared. Steve, I have only just found out about Carrie. I'm sitting at work in Ottawa, knowing that I'm too far away to make it to the chapel on time this morning, and I feel so terrible, for her and for you and your parents and Kim... and me... I will miss her more than I can say. The last time I chatted with Carrie was in November. We met up accidentally at karaoke night, and we were laughing and talking and she was telling me what songs she wanted me to sing. I guess I was her personal jukebox that night, and that was ok with me. We go back such a long way... almost forever. We laughed and cried together, and fought over dating the same boys, and schemed to do naughty pranks, and shared a dorm for the weekend at Queens for some teen event. I barely remember the event. It's Carrie and me getting in trouble for talking and laughing past midnight that I remember, and I have pictures of us walking amongst the tulips. It was spring. I'm so sorry for your loss. Lately, Carrie was happier than I had seen her in a long time, and I was happy for her. I always wanted to see her happy... I always knew when she wasn't... just by looking... and she could do the same by looking at me. My thoughts and prayers are there with you. I can't believe I won't see my friend next time I come up for a visit. This is... painful. Sorry doesn't even cut it... but I have no words. Hugs for you (you're my friend too...
