Obituary of Rod Jacques

With sadness, the family announces that Rod passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at Symphony Kanata Retirement home - Sunday February 11th, 2024.

Beloved Husband of the late Anne Jacques. Cherished Father of Deborah Steel (Craig), Nichola Charbonneau (Bernard), Lisa Jacques (François Gauthier) and Mark Jacques (Caroline). Treasured Grandpa of Danielle, Matthew, Riley, James, Rebekah, Diana, Mackenzie and Cameron, and Great Grandpa of Nicholas, Thomas and Markus. Predeceased by his only sister, Cynthia Leonard. Son of the late Stanley and Marjorie Jacques.

Rod met Anne 72 years ago at the Lido Dance Hall in Sale, England. Anne asked him to dance, and they were inseparable ever since.

Rod had a distinguished career in Sales and Marketing becoming Managing Director in the UK, President of BCE Company “Protocol” in Washington and General Manager of Phone Power for Bell in Ottawa where he retired in 97.

Rod was a proud family man, generous, kind and known for his sense of humour. A dedicated Father and Grandpa who always took the grandkids to the movies, museums and swimming and loved to treat them afterwards.

Rod was an avid golfer, rugby player and Manchester United fan. Rod flourished in rugby where he made many lifelong friendships. As Captain, lead the Edmonton Druids to 3 championships. Rod was Director of Senior Rugby for Ontario, winning the National Championship back to back in 95/96 and was also Director of Rugby Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Rod’s private arrangements have been entrusted to the Pilon Family Funeral Home, 50 John Street North, Arnprior. The family will be organizing a celebration of life for Anne and Rod in the spring of 2024.
