I always looked forward to seeing Peter at the Haven, where he never missed a visit to his wonderful wife, Helina. He started bringing me chocolate eggs about a year ago and it soon became a running joke with us. His smile would light up the room and his joking humour made talking to him so easy. I would often talk to him and Helina about my family and they were always there for me. Thank you for all your kind words and for making coming to work such a pleasure. You will be missed xoxo

It is a true blessing to have crossed paths with such a gentle soul. I will be celebrating two years at the farm Sept 1 2012. I can honestly say that only a few days out of that time did I not see Uncle Peter. He had a daily schedule that he tried to stick to; visiting Aunt Lena, going into Pakenham to stop and chat, coming to the farm to let us know the new news, have some breaky, a snooze and then off to work he went. That silver car going down the road at a snail’s pace was undeniable-there was no way he was missing out on anything; if he saw anyone in the yard it was a guarantee he was stopping in for a coffee or just a chat. “Luscious”. A pet name he had for me. With a big smile on his face “ I just love it when I come into a room and say ‘Hello, Luscious!’ and everyone turns to look-it gets me every time” And boy did I milk that nickname! He even has a huge ‘Luscious’ sticker on his fridge as a frequent reminder of a girl that loves to laugh and joke with him. I hope it made him shake his head and smile every time he looked at it. Uncle Peter has seen me at my best and through my sweat pants and ice cream days; he has given me advice and helped me with projects. I am sure he was part of my life to show me direction, positively and the meaning of family. Uncle Peter ~ you have left a deep impression on my heart. It was an instant bond and friendship between you and me. I missed our visit today and find myself looking down the field toward your house. Thank you for the rain this afternoon- Your rainbow was absolutely gorgeous. Keep guiding me in the right direction.

I was so shocked to learn of Peter's passing. I spoke with him briefly on Friday morning at the nursing home when he came for a visit with Lina and he came over to thank me for the butterscotch pie and buttertarts I made for him on Tuesday. I am so glad he enjoyed his treats one last time. I will miss him and that smile he always had for everyone he met...such a dear, kind man!! Rest gently my friend.

The stories Peter and I shared will forever stay with me. The fish Emily caught when he took her fishing. Going to a movie with Marc and falling asleep. His holiday to Mexico. His outings with Lina for ice cream. And of course his love for food. Peter enjoyed life to the fullest. I will forever miss you - my employee - my friend.
