I don't have many memories of you from when I was a teenager or even as an adult, this thought has been making me grieve for a relationship that we did not have, but could have had. However, Childhood memories have been flooding back to me this week. One of the most vivid is a summer visit to see you and Grandma Ruth. Four cousins cramming in a wooden toboggan and racing down a grassy hill. I didn't realize it until now, but the sight of a wooden toboggan doesn't remind me of winter, it reminds me of summer and of you. I don't know if you remember this small moment in time, but I always will. This memory brings me immense joy in a time of sadness and for this I am grateful to you.

I arranged for jim to go to vegas with Kathy and I. he had refused to fly but agreed because it was kathys wedding. Kathy and I flew from Ottawa to Toronto to catch the flight to vegas. Kathy did not know her dad was coming. he was sitting behind a post and surprised her when she rounded the corner. there was laughter and a few tears and we flew off to vegas. I am glad jim shared that event with us, I will miss you jim. bill

To my Father
Dad there are many things I wished I could have said to you over the years but felt for many reasons not able to.
So now that you are on the other side of Starlight I would just like to say this
You were a strong man, a hard man, who I always thought chose to walk a very hard road
I know not everything came your way nor in the end you did not arrive in a place that you would have wished.
But through it all I know you always tried to do your best in your own way. You worked hard, provided and supported your family when given circumstance you could have walked away and taken an easier road.
For this I am eternally grateful for whilst we had not the close relationship we both may have wished you were there when I was most vulnerable and gave me the opportunity to take my own road.
Understand dad I always cared and it was painful that even when we spoke we could not break those barriers between us. This was and is a profound sense of sadness
I can only wish your journey to the other side of starlight is swift and you can finally leave the cares and troubles of this life behind and take with you the love we all have for you.
So go now where Dreams are born. Time is never planned. Just think of happy things and your heart will fly on wings in never never land
