To this day,I often think of Peter. He was a contact on my email and would
often share a good story, joke or his view on current issues at home or abroad.
I remember the time meeting Peter in first year Pharmacy (1966) He was
a quiet, reserved individual, who wasn't loud, but discussions with him
were meaningful. There was a group of us, that most times sat together near
the rear of afew of the lecture halls. Where did those years go??
Peter was the one that kept in touch in pre-email days as he would come home to visit friends and family in Brownlee. I had to oppourtunity to meet and dispense medication for his parents during their stay in Moose Jaw. They resided at Athabasca Towers for some years!
I have no wild, but good memories of Peter and truly do miss having that
contact with him!

Peter and Dorie were over for a weekend visit...I even think they brought the RV for their own comfort. We were out in my vegetable garden picking our "dinner veggies" when Peter pulled 5 of my swiss chard plants out by the roots to make dinner. I said "Peter, why did you rip the plants out by the roots? I thought you were a farming lad and would have known "they regrow". Peter's response, "didn't know that, but know that from here on in, I will stay out of your garden". The year after that, he pulled up my beets to harvest beet greens. I only had to say WHHAAT??! He just laughed and so did I! That is what life is and memories are made of.

I remember the days at Linger Longer in Florida, when Peter and myself would get up early and go on our 20 mile bike ride to our favorite coffee stop for breakfast, where we shared many subjects, ,jokes, and setting the world right. Peter was always a tough guy to keep up with on the bike, he was go, go, go,all the way, a good work out for me! I always got my own back at "happy hour", as Peter could never keep up with me drinking Rum!! Times I will never forget.
God Bless you Peter.
Derek.

One day while dividing my yellow irises Peter wanted to know what I was doing with the surplus. When I said "to the compost" he quickly claimed the doomed bulbs and planted in his front yard to enjoy. As he was strolling away with his rescued irises he told me I was lucky my plants were growing and healthy..maybe I should leave them alone...I chuckled..definitely a Prairie boy!!

Dorie, JP and Anna, I will always think of Peter when I walk down to the lake alongside his pathway of salvaged trees. He was continually encouraging us to go out and explore the environment around us which he respected so much. Thank you for sharing many seasons of canoe rides, dock time, rummy-o, bonfires, the list goes on... That a family like yours moved in next door was serendipitous. Many hugs to you all and I will be thinking of you during the celebration tomorrow. Sharon

Dear Dorie, JP and Anna; We are a little late in posting our condolence message for the the loss of our great friend, and your great husband and father. We just had to reflect on, absorb and honor our times together. He brought us laughter and "simple lessons in life". He was a wonderful philosopher, teacher, and a believer in what lies beyond. For us this brings a true comfort in knowing that he is "out there" right now comforting us all. He was a man of great strength, ingenuity and principle. We love him for that. He was a man who loved adventure, for us that meant really cool RV trips and boating trips - we have pictures to share. Sheer joy! He was Norm's best friend and then his best man at our wedding in 2006. He will be missed so very much, but we hope that you know that we share in your grief for your loss, but also share in your celebration of who Peter was as a person and how he so incredibly contributed to life on earth. We are with you today, tomorrow and every step of the way as we say our goodbyes to this very special man tomorrow; and carry on his legacy of love for life. Norm and Cathy Carmanico (and for Anna, big slurp from Maise-Mahem - as you so aptly named her) xoxoxo

Peter was a steward at ST Andrews United Church in Calabogie. Before he became ill he was happy to help with routine maintenance like removing ice off the Hall roof, clearing and shovelling snow, trimming the overgrown trees by the side of the hall with his chain saw. WE missed his willing help when he could no longer do these tasks and we miss him even more now.

Peter and I were both lovers of fast automobiles. He being the happy owner of a BMW m5. My car of choice at that time was a Honda Acura .V6 . We never raced together ,but each felt we had bragging rights in our cars of choice. ( I wa secretly quite jealous of his M5As amember of the clergy ,it was awee bit pricy for me..lol Peter promised me a drive in his machine. There came aday when he made good on this.On a long straight road outside of town , he floored his magmificant machine . Iwas impressed. Up to 190 km no less!! Speed was not his aim. He wanted to demonstrate the braking ability of this machine Hold on he said... And I did . I swear that car came to a halt in about 3to 4 seconds. I could hardly believe my eyes.. It was as if agiant magnet grabbed the car and brought it to a roaring halt...I admit I loved it Over the speed limit and all Thank you Peter forone great thrill in my life.. ( Clergy dont get many) RIP my good friend Is their speeding in heaven? If so plz take me for a drive GS!!!.
