January 11, 1924 - March 6, 2014
Peacefully at the Arnprior Hospital on Thursday afternoon while surrounded by family at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by his wife, Rita (nee Chabot); his parents: Clarinda Young and George Calder as well as his 4 brothers: Garnet, Kenneth, Eldon and Charlie. Loving father of Gail, Colleen, Robert and Kelvin. Doug will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Doug always had a kind word for his many friends, neighbors and family both near and afar and from his resting place, he'll always be cheering for the Ottawa Senators. Fondly remembered by the Holmes family of Dawson City, Yukon. Special thanks to the staff at the Arnprior Hospital who were a comfort to both Doug and his family. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family during visitation at the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior on Sunday afternoon, March 9th from 2 until 3:45 p.m. A Service to honour the life of Doug Calder will be conducted in the Pilon Family Chapel on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Major Erin Verhey-Johnson of the Salvation Army officiating. Cremation will follow with interment later in the spring. Special thanks to the staff of the Arnprior Hospital who were a comfort to both Doug and his family. In memory of Doug, a donation to the Arnprior Legion, Branch 174; Pembroke Legion Branch 72 or The Salvation Army would be appreciated by his family. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will assemble at the funeral home for a tribute service on Sunday afternoon at 1:30.
