Ernie had such a powerful gift of drawing you into his life. One way or another he would get your attention and you just knew there was no getting out of listening to his song, his yodel, his story or his step dance. And at the end of the encounter with him you would surely say, "Yes, Ernie, you are a good one, you truly are a good man to have sung that song for me or danced that jig for me." No doubt he would respond with, "That's right, I am a good one, aren't I." He had no shortage of self-esteem and self-confidence, bless his heart. I must confess that often time I felt I had more pressing things to do or people to see or issues to address when Ernie caught my attention. But after listening to "You are my sun shine" or any one of the old tunes he knew so well, my heart would be lighter and I knew my encounter with Mr. Tucker at that moment was much more important and real than the pressing stresses I thought I should have been giving my attention to before Ernie stood squarely in front of me insisting I be drawn into his life for that moment. Truly, Mr. Ernest Tucker was a good man. And he left his mark on our hearts - my heart is grateful. Please pass on our sincere sympathy to all the folks at L'Arche Arnprior - you will be in our hearts over this week as you bid him farewell.

I met Ernie years ago when he lived in Picton. One night I heard amazing singing and thought it was someone who was cleaning. Ernie lit up when I commented on his wonderful voice. I rarely saw him, but when I did he would say, "I did just what you told me didn't I good nurse?" Many, many years later I saw him on the street. No doubt I looked much different by then. He still had his great smile and recognized me as being his "good nurse". (What a fantastic memory!) It is wonderful he got to enjoy life with all of you. My sympathy to you who knew and care for him.

Ernest Tucker was truly the "original" Good One!.... A social soul making his way around the neighbourhood on his bicyle, greeting one and all...livening up the evenings with his musical gifts by playing the spoons or the piano, or serenading us with old favourites like When The "Rose" is Called Up Yonder and Back in the Saddle Again. Ernie liked to looked good and enjoyed going to church with his best friend, Linda. He told lots of great stories and will be remembered for them and by them. You Good One...Ernest Tucker
