My mom Betty and dad Charlie would often take my sister (Kim), brother (Trevor) and I (Karen) to visit with Ester, Selma and Augie on Sunday afternoons for lunch after church. We tried to always use our manners and sit still, but it was hard at times. Ester was always interested in how we were doing in school and how we kept ourselves busy. She was a kind and generous lady. Growing up, I lost touch with her, but I always made a point of asking mom how she was doing.
To me Ester was a positive role model for women. She was very independant. She had a job which she loved, and she had the freedom to do what she pleased. That was not very commen back in the day. You could say she was a pioneer for women, but if you asked her about it, she would have said she was just being herself.
You will be deeply missed Aunt Ester.
Much love,
Karen Chapple (greta niece) :)

I had the privilege of attending Aunt Esther's 95th birthday party. Over lunch in her apartment, I asked her what she wanted as a gift—I was fishing because my brother and I really didn't know what to give her. She told me that what she really wanted she was not going to be able to have just then. I was intrigued, thinking that perhaps my cousins were going to take her someplace special to celebrate, but that they were not going to be able to do it until after the actual date. I asked her what it was that she was waiting for. She told me that she wanted to go home to be with Jesus. She was ready then, but God wasn't quite ready for her.
Aunt Esther was always generous—with her advice, with her possessions, with her interest. She will be missed. But our loss is heaven's gain and she is home at last—the paint in the new apartment in glory is finally dry.

Esther was a wonderful lady and I remember several happy times together when I was younger when I would visit Uncle Augie and Aunt Selma (and Esther) at the jewellery store in Arnprior and at their home. (Uncle Augie was my grandmother Florence Sproule's brother… my mother's uncle). We also visited Esther a few times when she lived on Baskin Drive at her apartment. We would go there and Dave would visit his two aunts (who are now both with the Lord too). When one of Dave's aunts moved to The Grove (aunt Jean Moorhead), we visited her there too and one day saw Esther in the sunroom. At that time she did not recognize us or remember us totally, but she joined the group with us as Dave read the Scriptures and prayed. A special moment to remember!
God bless you at this time of parting. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15
Blessings,
Ruth and Dave
