Janet, Lauren, Tim and Erin. It has been almost a year since we lost a great husband, dad, brother and great friend. I just want you to know that I think of Rob on a regular bases. I sure miss his old belly laughs.
I'm sure that this anniversary of your loss will be difficult but hope that through the many wonderful memories and the fun times it will help you to get through it.

Although we only spoke every so often the conversations were always shared with many laughs.I will always remember him for his determination, which he showed after his accident. On behalf of all of our assocaition members from across Canada, the staff at the Canada Masonry Centre and my wife Susan and I, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to Rob's wife Janet and their family for what we know is a great loss.
Rob was one of the "good guys" who always made you feel that you were important to him or that you mattered. He did not care where you were from or what you owned. It only mattered what kind of person you were. Humility and a strong sense of fairness to others was his mantra. His engaging smile and that little "twinkle" in the eyes let you know that he had a wonderful sense of humour and saw the comedy in life. Even when things were difficult and struggling. The manner by which he approached his phyiscal struggles after his accident was an inspiration to all of us. No public complaints. No "woe is me".
Rob served our industry with dedication and purpose. His willingness to serve as the president of OMCA and the ORMCA despite his terrible car accident was genuine and he did it well. We collectvely owe him our thanks and our commitment to keep moving things forward. That is what he would want.
We will miss our friend Rob McGonigal. We know this is a great loss to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
To his wife Janet please accept our heartfelt condolences and prayers. To his children you have been given a wonderful legacy. One you can be very proud of.
To those of us left behind for a while let us remember Rob as "one of the good guys" and live every day like it matters.

To the McGonigal Family: It is with great sadness that I hear of Rob's passing. He was a great family man and very generous member of the Arnprior community. Rob and I played together for the Lumber Kings, and Rockland before that. He was a mentor and friend, with a solid moral foundation passed on from his parents. I spent many evenings traveling back and forth from Arnprior to Pembroke with Magoo driving. Although our communication from our playing days was occasional, Rob truly was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Dear McGonigal Family, it's with great sadness that I received the news last night. Sharing a drink and a burger at the beach bar in Florida, Robbie seemed his old self full of energy and entertained us with his usual wit. The conference was a success and Rob being there, certainly was a part of that success. He was truly a friend to so many of us.
