Today, I had to buy new tires for my car.
The tires that came on my Mazda finally wore out after an astonishing six years, those amazing "better tires" Brad put on it "because I never let my customers leave with those terrible manufacturer's tires" before selling it to me new in Oct 2013.
It crossed my mind how grateful I was that he'd sold me the car- I've had exceptional luck with it, and it was everything he said it would be.
I remembered how it felt to meet Brad after driving to Truro on a whim, after months of searching for a new car in Halifax (and hating the greasy sales tactics and sales smokescreens I'd been encountering). I could tell he was different kind of human from the moment I met him. Beyond being incredibly personable and easy to get along with, he was also incredibly, refreshingly straight forward and honest- which I appreciated immensely. I was young girl and it was my first purchase, but he could tell I'd done my research, and he treated me with respect. He didn't try to "sell" me a car in the way I'd become accustomed- it was a natural, authentic discussion- and he wasn't afraid to discuss the pros and cons when I asked. He was fully transparent with the negotiations- we actually ended up "splitting" the commission, which made us both laugh!
It was the first car I'd purchased, and I was so nervous- I'm sure I probably drove him a little crazy with my endless (and likely often stupid) questions. But he was always patient and kind with me throughout. And I remember being so touched that after the purchase when I went to pick up the car, he actually took a half hour and sat in my back seat, walking me through how to use all the functions in the stereo, how to change the time, and all the little ins and outs of the car. That time he spent that night wasn't making him any more money- but it was important to him anyway, so that I would have the best possible experience with my new car.
After all these years I was still thinking about him and how happy I'd been with this car, and decided to send him a quick note to thank him. I drafted my email, then decided to just do a quick search to make sure he was still with the company... and found this instead.
I just wanted to let you know that today I was thinking of him- and that some customer he met twice, six years ago, still remembers what kind of a person he was.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Robin

Dear family and friends of Brad.
I was shocked and very saddened to hear of the passing of Brad.
I was one of Brad's football coaches when he attended ADHS and he played for the Junior squad. There are many young men I remember who played for the Redmen but there are a few who really stand out, some for good reasons and some… well not so good. Brad was as you would expect "one of the good guys".
Brad was one of those kids that always had a smile on his face, but I could never figure out if it was because he was happy or because he was up-to-something… although it was probably both.
I do recall his hard work ethic on and off the field and especially his leadership abilities with some of the harder to handle kids on the team. As a player he was a punishing football player and when he hit someone they knew it, but he was the kind of kid that would put his hand out and help the guy off the ground. I especially remember his Dad Bucky standing over at the fence alongside of Oattes Field on game day and nightly at practice with a huge smile on his face, we all knew Bucky and we all knew how proud he was of his son.
In later years when I would bump into Brad around town during his visits home he would always go out of his way to say hello and check in with that big cheesy grin of his… "all in all" he was just a good kid and I will miss him.
To Brad's wife Sarah Jane and Brads immediate and extended family and friends I offer my sincere condolences.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brad's family. I grew up with Brad and went all through school with him. One of the things that I remember most about Brad how nice of guy he was. It didn't matter what circle of friends you were with in school, Brad would speak to everyone and a lot of people looked up to him because of it. He'll certainly be missed.
