What a lovely obituary Mo! - you've done Dodo proud! One of the funniest things I remember about your Mom was a story that you told from many years ago, where you were in line at the grocery store with your Mom, and someone asked if they could butt in, since they only had a couple of cans of cat food. Your Mom's reponse was, "sure, if you're THAT hungry". What a quick wit!! She had such a big heart, but also told it like it is. Jovan was honoured to have her give him and Pat heck, for drinking too much out at the sugar shack - just made him feel right at home!! She will be SO missed. My thoughts are with you today and tomorrow, as you prepare to say goodbye to your Mother, roommate and friend.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Doris’s passing. She was such and amazing lady, a kind and caring soul. Growing up I was always at the Bourke’s. If I wasn’t bugging Maureen to play with me or following Johnny and Tony around like a lost puppy, I was always there. No matter the reason, Doris always welcomed me in and treated me like her own. She was like a second mom to me. And just by her opening her door and allowing me in she gave me a small reprieve from the craziness of my childhood…I wonder if she realized what she was doing...I suspect she did…not much got past her ;) I will forever be grateful to her for those times. They helped make a crazy world a tad saner. I am also thankful for the friendship she gave my mom. She always made time for her. It meant the world to mom and I know she appreciated it very much. To Pat, Tommy, Johnny and Maureen I send my deepest condolences and really, really, big hugs. There is nothing harder then losing a mom, no matter how old you are you will always be her baby. Take good care, and take strength from all those who offer it, you are going to need it to help you make it through the next while. Love Always, Pauline

My thoughts are prayers are with all you and your families at this time. Doris was a very special lady that taught me many things during my lifetime. I will always treasure the memories of the times spent at your house. Doris taught me how to make a perfect cup of tea and I will think of her twinkle in those loving eyes everytime I make my tea. She was my rock during moms last days and helped me so much after moms passing. I can picture mom and Doris sitting having a few pots of tea catching up and I can see Tom and dad out fishing. We have all gained a guardian angel who I know will watch over all of us. She will be missed by many .

I am sincerely sorry for the loss of Doris. She holds a special place in my heart. I remember soft kind eyes, a warm smile, an Irish lilt that made it sound like just talking was musical. I felt safe and welcome always in her home and in her presence, and count Doris among the many 'mommies' who took a turn at the wheel when my own mother was gone too soon. What a beautiful lady. Heaven has gained something really precious. I'm sure she and Tom and Clarence and Ella May are laughing and having tea (made properly) around the table today.

Thinking of you at this time. Doris was a truley a remarkable lady. I have very fond thoughts of her and how you were always welcomed in your home by her. I admired her love of her family and especially her faith. Your mother was so kind and shared a special friendship with my mother over the years while my mother Babs was very ill. You never forget the good deeds of others. With deepest sympathy , Valerie Colton Prince Niagara Falls , Ont
