being here at the villa now 4 years, anytime we passed each other or sat to gab in 'commons' room watching tv we became pals....a story (true) she said she always really didn't like Irene for a name, ever since that song came out years ago..."Irene
Goodnight'.....and I told here when I and about 5 others each summe went over to Norway
Bay for our 2 ws. holiday, being 17, 18, all that age, the dear old lady at that time l947, etc. was Irene dodd...about 70-75 at that time, hardly any wispy hair which she tried braid up (skinny, almost scaring us), she'd wind up those old stairs (the place was built in the late l880's) often just to see if we all got into those beds ok. and on cccasion hadl let her hair down and had a candle in her hand(no flashligts probably then)...
she said there's been a storm so close, it's knocking some of of huge pines down...(when she'd asked us were we scared, 'no , we all muttered'......
after she'd decended down those creepy stairs, I remember one of my close 18 year old girlfriend saying to us all, giggling about it..."I'm telling you, the only thing I was getting scared of was Miss Dock bending over us all in the moonlight with her straggly bit of hair hangng near our chins" Hey, I can tell
this as if it were yesteday, and I had good roar out of our 'beam of light, Irene Hurley' when she said,
maybe that would be another reason for me to not like this 'irene' name!!
as you all go along to admire and think about this fun filled, lovey lady Irene here in the villa as a up-beat companion to all, with compassion for others prime in her inner makeup....love from Norma Dixon (129 ) Villa Revera.

I have such beautiful memories of Aunt Irene, especially as a child, when the Peterborough Hurleys got to visit with the Ottawa Hurleys. I always thought she was the coolest Aunt ever. RIP Irene. I'm sure you're up there with Basil enjoying life as an angel.Thank you for the memories
