I never met your dad. I knew his brother Jim. I was one of four teenage boys in a canoe on Lake McGregor on June 19th, 1965, when a motor boat with a drunk driver hit our canoe. Jim was the captain at the back of the boat, and when he saw the motor boat was heading for the middle of the canoe, he stood up and with all his might pushed the canoe forward with his paddle. He was knocked unconscious and drowned. He saved our lives. That was 46 years ago. Every year I thank the lord for having met Brother Jim and pray that I made his sacrifice worthwhile. He was 21 years old when he passed. I expect that his brother Bud was a great person as well. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Dear Sharon, Erin and families: I was most shocked to hear the news of your father’s death. I am deeply sorry for you and your families. He will be deeply missed. There is probably no one else that influenced my Hydro Life or left with me with more fond memories than Bud Barrett. We travelled together a lot while I was in Cobden as Assistant Manager and Bud as Manager. He talked at length about his two daughters that he loved so much. I knew both of you before we met personally. After working as Manager in Cobden I moved to North Bay to reunite with Bud until he left North Bay. Bud was a strong organizer, planner, leader, presenter and worker, but more importantly a great person and I am sure a wonderful father. He was an extremely clever person with a great sense of humour who could tell stories as well anyone I ever met. He was extremely confident and gained respect from most if not all those he had contact with. Carol and I will attend the visitation on Friday evening. Carol and Bob Mason

Dear Sharon, Erin, Art and families, I am so sorry for your loss and know how devastated you must feel. I have loved and admired Buddy since I was a young child, and although we didn't see each other often I've always felt close to your family. Buddy had all the best attributes of the Boucher clan. Although his life was far too short, he lived it to the fullest and will leave all of us with many wonderful memories. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Bridget

I will love Bud for all eternity. We only had 3 years together but we lived a life time of joy and happiness. My memories of cruising down the river, enjoying lunch, seeing all the beautiful homeson our boat "The African Queen", calling each other Rosie and Charlie as in the movie, taking pictures of all the places we went, will last forever. Ou wedding planned for May 30,2009 was postponed due to my unexpected triple by-pass surgery. We were married August 22, 2009 by a priest and minister inside a gazebo at Monponsett Inn, on a beautiful sunny day. Our honeymoon cruise on "Freedom of the Seas" was spectacular. We had LasVegas shows every night,parades,3 pools, games, and best of all we were picked for the show Love & Marriage. Some of Bud's answers were priceless. I will love you forever and ever sweetheart. Janet

Dear Sharon and family, I was shocked when you called yesterday to tell me your father had passed away suddenly. As you know I have known your father for many years during his time in North Bay and lately here in Arnprior. I always enjoyed working for him during the serious times and also the fun side of the job that he brought to many meetings and social events. He was always so full of life! Christine and I are away this weekend so we are unable to deliver our sympathies in person at this time. However be assured that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
