Dear Mr and Mrs Toner and Cassandra, My deepest sympathy for your loss. Though I didn't have the good fortune to get to work with or know Sterling very well, he did on occasion share with me some humour and a smile during our brief encounters in the mornings. He will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Sincerely, Marsha Eady

Greg, Leslie and Cassandra: I cannot even begin to understand what you are going through. Sterling was such a treasure. I do have some fond memories of him, but the one that sticks out the most would be the chocolate donut.....a while back I was in the classroom helping out and it was lunch time. Sterling had a chocolate donut in his lunch that he insisted on giving me...he told me he wanted me to have it for all the nice things I do - it melted my heart. WE agreed to share it and both of us were happy with that. It just showed me the love in that little boys heart. Hold onto the love he had for all of you. Greg and Leslie, I admire your strength, determination and love for him through this whole battle - he was lucky to have you. Cassandra - you were the best big sister he could have asked for and the love the two of you shared with each other was special - cherish it always. Please know that our family is here to support you - whatever you need...we are only a phone call away. Love Lori Ann PS - Sterling - my Dad loves chocolate donuts - give him my half please!!!

To the Toner and McLean families - My fondest memories of Sterling would be last year at his birthday party watching him swimming in the pool (and wearing Cathy out) and the way that he always had a smile on his face. Just a few weeks ago at the school he proudly sang 'Hallelujah' for Lori Ann and I many times, over and over again - what an enthusiastic new member to the heavenly choir. I was blessed to be a part of your family celebrations and I am here for you always. Love and hugs, Bette

To: The Toner family. Sterling was a great little boy, and he was my friend. I know that it is going to be super hard, but now he doesn't have to live in pain. Right now he is up in heaven probably riding around on a motorbike, telling jokes to everybody and making them laugh. No matter how hard I tried not to, when I was near him he could always make me laugh. Cassandra, I will always be there for you. Love: Emily Cherney

Greg, Leslie and Cassandra Sterling has lost his wheels and gained his wings. He is now free to be with you wherever you are - and always in your hearts. No one knows how long our journey here on earth is to be - but to make a difference in someone's life is a rare gift that we can only hope to make. Your little Sterling did just that by drawing so many people together to help a little man and his family when they needed help most. Again Sterling has drawn your community and beyond to be with you now. Jo-Anne

Dear Toner family, Sterling was a remarkable student and friend to many people at school. Sterling always believed he could do anything better then anyone. He was very cheerful, loving and thoughtful to everyone at school. During his last week at school, he was very loving. He would go around the school and ask for hugs from the staff. We were all very willing to receive a hug! My thoughts and prayers are with you all! Jennifer ( Educational Assistant at Sterling`s school )

Leslie, Greg and family, There is nothing I can say at this point to ease the pain of your loss. From another parent who has lost a child all I can say is be thankful for the years and the memories. Sterling was an amazing boy with a great attitude and he would not have been like that without a loving family to guide him. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to talk. I do know how hard it is to lose your child and we found great comfort talking with other families that have been in the same situation. Rest in peace Sterling, you will all be together again someday. Sincerely, Lynda and Ian Fraser

Honoring the life and memories of a great person. Military service is a gift to ones country - we will always enjoy the peace and freedoms which were fought for.
