Sue and family, Please know that Tom is a special friend in my woodpile of memories having served with him in the OPP at Tillsonburg. Police officers as a matter of course bond with each event, some life threatening, and the memories most good are cast in stone. Tom's caring manner and attention to always being compassionate and kind never left me and I hope I feel I am a better person having known him however brief. Larry Killens

Dear Sue and Family I'm sending sincere condolences to you. Mike & I were parishioners at St.Peter Celestine Parish in Pakenham, but we moved away to Renfrew in 2006. Periodically we would see you at the Arnprior Truck Stop. Then we met again on August 4th at the Ottawa General when we were in adjoining ICU "quiet rooms" which are provided for families of patients. Michael & Tom died at the same time that night. I'm keeping you in prayer, as we both became widows at the same time. Love, Jane Tremblay

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mom (Eileen Murray McCaffrey) lived with Helen and Morley when my eldest sister, Sandra, was a small child and my Dad, John N. McCaffrey, was away at war. As we grew older, our most favourite place was Pinto Valley Ranch where Morley gave us our very own horse to ride. PomPom was the cutest and most gentle of all the horses. My fondest memories were spent with the Smith Family. I am so happy that we spent some time with you at Step Up Ruby's only a few months ago, as Mom, who is now 93, was anxious to visit with you. Such good, fine, compassionate, generous people. Tom will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dear Sue and family, Further to my phone call on Sunday Sue, I wish to affirm our support and condolences across the miles. While I know you do not remember me personally please understand that Tom is one of those people in my woodpile of memories that occupies a big part. As a police partner, my life not only depended on him in several incidents he did indeed exercise that unspoken dedication and devotion to his calling and his fellow partners. With Tom's passing it reassures me that I know Heaven will be everything promised or what I conceive it to be with good people like Tom there. Tom's devotion to people extended to his off work time when I used to travel with him in the Tillsonburg area to Mennonite homes, help neighbours build decks and do home repairs. He truly will be missed by all and please know I made every effort to attend today but we are presently dealing with a family crisis, making travel impossible. I am there in spirit if not in person. Larry and Shelley

Dearest Sue and family, Our hearts are just breaking with the sad news of Tom's passing away on Aug 4th. It seemed like yesterday that we were there visiting with the two of you... We want to send you our deepest sympathy for losing such a dear and wonderful husband and want you to know that we are grieving with you. There have been such beautiful memories we have all shared together and spending our time living in Tillsonburg, with both Don and Tom on the OPP police force, will still remain one of the best times of our lives... Both you and Tom are great friends and now that Tom is resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus, we can only praise God for His love and mercy to those who love Him so much... I love you, Sue, and will phone you when things have quieted down but please remember I am always thinking of you and, especially, on Tom's birthday, when we will all remember Tom with love, admiration and true affection.... With love and many, many hugs... Don and Reet Herder, Langley, BC....

Dear Sue and family, Our family are sending our condolences to you and your family. Alot of time has passed since we have seen Tom and you. As we got older the trip to Pakenham was difficult for us to make. we always and will continue to remember all the great times we had here in Tillsonburg when we met you and our times spent with the family at the ranch. We always felt like part of the family. We do remember all the good times, laughs and stories Tom shared.I will add the time my sister Doreen was having a party and Tom phoned her to tell her to get the partiers out because our Mom and Dad where on their way home. We have memories of alot of good times at our visits and weddings you both attended for our family. Those times are probably the best times my parents spent. When Dad finaaly retired their health too changed. Just mentioning the names of your family brings a smile to Dad's face and the it is followed by a story. It will be some time for all of you,but brighter days will be ahead for you. We will certainly encourage our family who can to donate the gift of blood in Tom's memory. God Bless all Maurice and Yvonne Deketelaere

We offer our deepest sympathies to Helen & Greg and Family and the whole Smith clan. The loss of Tom to all your family is a sad occasion. Know that he is now in the communion of saints--namely with his parents and Basil and Dave's mom Helena. I am sure he was welcomed with open arms.
