Dear family
I am devastated to hear these sad, sad, news. I known Jamie for a couple of years in Sandvik. He was always available and supportive, acting as my mentor. Especially when things went tough. He was always true to himself, standing up for what he believed and he did all this with a great sense of humour. Even though we did not meet often it always felt you could continue where you left the conversation.
I was once invited to his home in Arnprior and I remember the conversation as work, hockey but mostly about his grandkids and family - What is ultimately whats important in life...
Will deeply miss him
/Andreas

Dear Kathy,
I am deeply saddened by this untimely demise of our dear Jamie. But pls know that he was an amazing person and a good colleague. His contribution to Sandvik is immeasurable. He was so much customer focussed and always provided the best of his services to them. Have some fond memories of how he solved a crisis situation with an Indian client.
He was always very kind and really took good care of me when I was in Canada. He ensured I was taken good care of even during his absence.
He never lost his composure in the midst of many trials and tribulations both on his personal and professional front. This didn't deter him to offer his oceanic smile to everyone he met. My last vision of him is when I dropped him off at a hotel near Arlanda and I bid goodbye to him.....didn't know it would be the last.
Farewell Jamie.....May your soul rest in peace in the tight embrace of Almighty !!!!
With Prayers,
Vikram Pandit

To All in Jamie's family,
I am a part of SANDVIK world where Jamie too belonged to. During my initial tenure in Sandvik ( in India), I had couple of interactions and visits of Jamie to India and also some memorable customer visits. Jamie was always full of new ideas, lot of vigour, very supportive and helpful. He also used to make the sourroundings cheerful and vibrant with his witty words. I remember one incidence when we were jointly visiting to one of the big O&G customers in India and the discussion to happen was supposed to get tough and hard. However, when we entered the discussion room which was vacant that time, Jamie happily took the key chair , welcomed customer officials and skillfully asked, " please all of you let me know what all good things you did today to make yourself happy? ". Everyone laughed and this small gesture from Jamie, made us go a long way to have fruitful discussions.
My thoughts go out to his family, community and friends who will miss him so. RIP Jamie !!

Bob and I are both shocked and so saddened to hear of Jamie's passing. We knew Jamie back in the early 80's when he lived in Edmonton. I'm not sure how Bob and Jamie met but we became great friends and we shared many laughs over the years. Time took us to BC and Jamie back to Ontario so I personally hadn't seen Jamie for many years but I know Bob had seen him occasionally on his trips to Ontario.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that we are thinking of you all.
Sincerely,
Barb and Bob Olmstead

My heart felt condolences to Jamie's family. I knew Jamie for many years having been a colleague at Sandvik for over 30 years myself. We met at exhibitions, conferences and together visited some of our key customers. It was always a pleasure to be with Jamie, he took the business seriously and coupled that with great respect for the colleagues and customers around him.....that coupled with a great sense of fun and an odd interest in a game involving long sticks and small balls made him a treasured colleague.
I for one will miss Jamie, but he will remain as a positive chapter in my memory bank.

My deepest condolences to all of Jamies family.
This is really hard news to take, I was just talking to him a few weeks ago asking him how he was doing. He was a fantastic guy and a beautiful gentleman who will be really missed.
I just wanted to share a story about Jamie and myself. I stated at Sandvik 21 years ago, as a young process engineer who thought I knew it all. At the start of my career, Jamie and I did not get along, Jamie came with orders that were next to impossible, very challenging that would take long hours. I remember one he put on my desk and I said "are you kidding do you know how long I will have to work to get this done" he just looked at me and said can you do it, I said yes and then he said, well I have done my job, now it is time to do yours. As the years went by, I realized that he was doing exactly what he needed & was supposed to do, push us, challenge us and make it happen. I often take a page from his book of sales when I do my business now.
Over the years, we really developed a friendship and I respected him and thought his way of doing things was the best way forward. I am lucky enough to have golfed in various locations around the world, visited customers together and had lots of laughs. We of course watched few hockey games together, me cheering for the Sens and him for the Leafs, but of course as good Canadian hockey fans, there was never any personal bitterness on our parts. When he came to Perth, Australia to visit me and go visit the customers a few years ago, we had a great time of course, as everyone did with him on the road.
I will miss him a lot and think of all the super time we had together.
My thoughts go out to his family, community and friends who will miss him so.
John
