Dear Marion, Bruce, Sylvia, Saralee, Shirley & Families. I was so sorry to hear that Gillies passed away. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I worked at your DQ as a teenager and have some wonderful fun memories of my time there. Gillies was a terrific boss and a great person. Your family was always so good to me and made my first job experience a good one. Thank you all for that. I live in Victoria now, married, 2 children and 3 wonderful grandchildren. I get home every couple of years and every time I pass the DQ a smile crosses my face. Please look me up if you're ever out my way. Again, sincere condolences, I know you'll all miss him very much. Regards, Bonnie

Bruce (and family) I was very sorry to hear that your Dad had passed away. Unfortunately, a number of thing conspired against me attending the funeral. I have many great memories of time spent up at your house on Second Avenue and remember how fond my Mum and Dad were of the Smyth family. If I'm not mistaken Hazel (my stepmother) was the first employee of the DQ working with your parents so long ago.... boy those were the days! Best regards! Bill Serson

My deepest sympathies are extended to Mrs. Smyth and family. Mr. Smyth was a compassionate, funny, and kind man - a wonderful boss for all of us at the Dairy Queen.
