Please accept my sincere and deepest sympathies. I have but the fondest memories of Alex (particularly at your cottage driving the boat, feeding us sweetbreads, the regular Poutine stop ...) Yvonne and family. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of a great friend to Carleton Athletics. A former Raven himself, Alex was a loyal supporter of the men's basketball team at Carleton University for many years. He was especially proud of the six national championship Ravens teams this decade and he and Yvonne cheered on the team as season ticket holders at the Ravens' Nest. Alex always had time to talk about the Ravens or about the early days of Ravens basketball and I thoroughly enjoyed our chats. A wonderful man, he will be dearly missed. Sincerely, Paul Armstrong Recreation & Athletics Carleton University

Dear Yvonne and family: My heartfelt sympathy goes to you and your entire family in the loss of your beloved husband and father. I have fond memories of Alex and his siblings and all the fun times we had growing up in the 40's. My last visit with Alex was when we reconnected at the Canadian Real Estate Association conference in Hawaii 40 years later. Thanks goodness for name tags! Patrick and I met with him the next morning for a 3 hour breakfast on top of the Sheraton Hotel. That was special! May all the wonderful memories and love from family and friends ease your pain and sorrow over this difficult time and into the future. Wishing you comfort and peace. Fondly, Cousin Barbara Hogan Regina, Sask.

Yvonne and Mary Ann and family So sorry to hear about the loss of your wonderful husband and father. I warmly remember many conversations with Mr. Fitzsimmons where he provided sage advice. One summer Mary Ann and I worked together and often spent the time discussing 'world issues'. Having differing opinions, we would frequently argue. I will always remember Mr. Fitzsimmons telling us it was ok to bicker because it showed we had a strong social conscience- a statement that has always remained with me and that has made me more tolerant of others opinions. Thanks Mr. Fitzsimmons.

We have a photograph in our family room of my wife, our second daughter and myself. The photograph was taken by Mr. Fitzsimmons at a restaurant in Carleton Place over 20 years ago. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. Mr. Fitzsimmons noticed that we were having a good time and he asked if we would like him to take our picture. We agreed and he told us that he would mail the picture to us. Several days later the picture arrived in the mail. This was our only contact with Mr. Fitzsimmons but the result has last over two decades.
