My deepest sympathy. I just wanted to say that Ivan was the connection. He was so concerned about Dougie and looked up to him for the strength and bravery that he had. Ivan always let me know what the status was and if he had been speaking with Doug. May your memories help with the sadness and emptiness left behind.

Noreen & family Al and I have known Doug forever. I grew up in Pakenham as the daughter of the local barber, Al grew up on the family farm outside Pakenham, and Al's brother, John, drove for Doug's dad. We were at the funeral today but were in the basement and were unable to express our sympathies to you, your children as well as to Cathy, Joanne and Wendy. It was an inspiring service and watching the trucks go off to Pakenham was quite an experience. Listening to Kristy's words as Heather spoke them so eloquently, allowed us insight into the close relationships Doug had with his family. I know that his spirit will be with all of you to help you at this time and I'm glad that his pain has come to an end. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Al and Jeri Lunney Almonte

Noreen, Kathy, Kristy and families; We were saddened to hear of Doug's passing and are very sorry for your loss. Doug was one of the first people to welcome us to Pakenham. We had just moved into your old home across the road from the garage that housed "W.Y. Wood and Sons". We were offered the use of the facilities to wash our vehicles. He must have known how much dust can accumulate on vehicles parked in the driveway. He was a very kind man and always had a easy smile. He will be missed. Our thoughts are with you and hope these and your own fond memories help you through this difficult time. The Argue Family Ken, Christine, Thomas, Liane and Amanda

Noreen, Today is a sad day in Oakville. We trust that your loss will feel somewhat less severe in time, particularly with the strength of Kristy and Brian, Kathy and Patrick and the children. I will always remember Doug as a gentle and kind man --- I enjoyed being with you both whenever possible. He had a wonderful, delightful & wry sense of humour that he shared with everyone. Noreen, you 'did well' to find this man and spend as much time with him as was allowed. Doug will be missed in every respect. And now, you must go it alone. All our love to you. Bob and Willemien

Noreen, Kristy, Kathy, JoAnn, Don, Jen, Tim, Wendy & families It was with mixed emotions that I heard the news of Doug's passing. I know he had been in pain for quite some time, but knowing his pain is over doesn't diminish the loss. I will always remember Doug as a man who could fill an entire room with his energy and make you laugh so hard you cried with his quick wit. I know my Mom thought of him as the brother she wished she'd had, and I will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to see him one last time at her funeral in September. I can only imagine the effort it took to make that trip. I will be there in spirit tomorrow with my Dad and Kelli, offering my sympathies to you and thanking Doug for all of the fond memories he leaves behind. Yours most sincerely, Lisa

It is with great sadness that Sharon and I send our heartfelt sympathy to all of Doug Wood's family and friends mourning his loss. As a young boy, I spent many summers working on Annie and Lloyd Dickson's farm near Pakenham. Cathy (Wood) Lyon was staying there as well. On special occasions, I got to drive the tractor and wagon into Pakenham to Uncle Bill's historic mill. There I met Doug - he was older than I and was driving a rig for his dad. I so looked up to Doug as he was considered one of the "men" and I was still just a boy. Seeing Doug's picture brings back such fond memories of Doug and his father joking around in the office at the mill. Rest in peace Doug, knowing how many people in this world knew and loved you. Randy and Sharon Wood

Doug's dad Bill and my dad Austin were good friends and the short distance across the street to the mill was well travelled. My memory of Doug goes back as far as I can remember because as a kid you just followed your dad across the street to see and talk with his friend. I remember Bill taking us in his Buick to see Doug play hockey in Arnprior. Later when my Dad had his white garage doors painted and came home to see them covered in black marks, he asked what happened? When I said it was Doug and I taking shots with a real puck, the whole matter was forgotten. As time passed I watched him grow with the love of his life Noreen and the girls. To those of us who were fortunate enough to travel with him, we know the best place in the world to be would be sitting beside him in his Kenworth in the middle of the night with all the glowing lights and sound of the diesel engine watching and listening to him drive with a talent that few possess. He has so many friends and we will be there for his family and each other in the difficult days ahead. Doug, we all will miss you but never forget you. Love,Peter

Dearest JoAnn, Don and family, We are so pleased that we could be with you to share our respective joys and sorrows during this difficult time. Please know that we have been thinking of you every day since you left Everett. We share this prayer, in which we find great meaning, and hope you do too: O Lord, support us all the day long until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. We send truckloads of love and condolences, Darrell and Sue
