I did not know Red well as I moved away from Arnprior immediately after high school, although I was familiar with him as he was a friend of my parents, Bill and Gert Murphy. I'm fairly certain he knew my late brother Paul Murphy and my sister Laureen Redman (nee Murphy) was a very good friend of his daughter Patty. My condolences to your family.

Our younger days at the ball diamonds always included Jim 'Red' as he was one of the best umpires around! He was one of the good guys. Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to the Mosley family. Red will forever be remembered in our thoughts and in our hearts. We spent many a good time over the years in the "Landing", on the raft and at Gavan's but mostly he was always smiling, funny and kind to my family and children. We had one last "Landing" party with him this past Saturday and "wasn't that a party!" as Red would say. We will miss you deeply. xoxo

To the Mosley Family, So sorry to hear of your father's passing. I know first hand of Jim's commitment to the youth of Arnprior as I too am a member of the Arnprior Optimist Club. As a kid growing up in the Prior and playing hockey Jim was always at the rink on Elgin Street or so it seemed and was always encouraging. At the O'Brien Theater he was always entertaining especially when dealing with those who were disrupting the movie. Jim was firm but fair back in those days and maybe once or twice showed me and my friends to the door. As an adult and playing on the "Old Timers" league, Jim always fun on the ice and like to tease the "young bucks" first year players. As an Optimist, Jim was a devoted member, active and resourceful, he could really make our meetings lively and get things done. I will miss his keen sense of wit, strong sense of self and his commitment to our community and to his family. Rest in Peace Jim.
