Forgive the late message of condolences for Val and family. Peter and I had been out of touch for a few years. I did try to call him last Fall and now understand that it coincided with his passing. We shared a love of the principles of the Baha'i Faith. We had many great discussions and I enjoyed his worldly knowledge and openness. Peter definitely made a significant contribution in several areas to this community. My wife, Lia and I, send our heartfelt greetings to all.

During this Thanksgiving time I want to give thanks Lord for giving me the opportunity to meet and make a friend like Pete Dewolf. The day I met Pete I gave him a tip of a job at the Guide newspaper. He got that job and became a friend of the Arnprior community.
We went on together to produce a weekly Cable TV news show called Ottawa Valley Newsweek that was broadcast in Ottawa and 7 cable systems in the valley. Pete helped me to improve the craft of news production and telling stories. He hosted many television programs along with fundraising telethons and Municipal and Provincial election coverage.
I was fortunate to see Pete get married and have children. He was a valuable asset to our town and many communities in the Ottawa Valley. We all are indeed lacking a truly good person in Pete.
A family man, my mentor, and a dyed in the wool broadcaster.
Thanks Pete,
Bruce

Dear Val,
I can honestly say I understand and know the grief you are feeling, I have lived it.
To say time will help heal the pain and loss, is lost on you right now, but it will.
To say be strong, is an understatement, that's how you got this far.
The minutes turn into hours, then days, weeks, months and before you know it, it is still the same, he is still gone, but you are stronger. Life does not look so bleak, and you learn to laugh again and be happy. I'm sure Peter, would want you to smile again and truly feel it. It's ok to live again.
Thinking of you in the days to come, take a helping hand from where it comes.....

I am saddened to learn about the passing of a great person. I met Peter in 1984 as I began my career in radio in Renfrew. Peter was a kind mentor. I enjoyed his stories of his experiences. He was kind and caring. I don't think one can really appreciate his dedication to the Ottawa Valley community. He really cared about where he lived and was always trying to promote what was happening. Seeing others happy seemed to make him happy. I learned a lot from him. I wish his family my deepest sympathy. Rest in peace Peter.

I'm shocked to hear of Peter's sudden passing. My condolences to Val and his family. Peter and I worked together in the late 90s at the Chronicle-Guide and always kept in touch over the years. I'll miss his crazy stories over lunch or over beers in his backyard. He always had tales to tell of reporting in Central America or with CBC back in the 1970s. He had a passion for doing local news and especially radio that will be tough to find in anyone else. He'll certainly be missed.

Val and Family--- My deepest sympathies to all of you... our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time.❤ I can't imagine what you are all going through. I have known Pete since 1992 and through those years he always loved to surprise and shock us with what he wrote. This was the biggest shock ever. He was a co-worker who was truly passionate about what he did in every way and always showed it. He was a leader and a teacher. Always helping everyone become the best they could possibly be. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone and above all else he was a family man that was immensley proud of his family and his work family. There is so many memories that I will always hold close. Thank you Pete for everything that you have done for so many in the Valley and beyond. You will be missed beyond words my friend ❤ xo

Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you Valerie and Family!! I will always remember Peter who never hesitated to help a Friend when in need. Peter and Valerie took me to Montreal in 2002 to go to the US Consulate, to finalize the final step on my Fiancee Visa, because Jesse was in the States at the time. I will always remember the Special time that he came to my Parents house to do a story on my Mom when she too was battling 2 different kinds of Cancer. Peter wrote an article about a Nurse's Top that my Mom had with 94 signatures from Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, Family and Friends, and so many more.. This article was to help raise awareness to help anyone had been sick , and to give them a focus... Thank you Peter for all you have done for my Mom and Dad, Jesse and I. You will be missed!!
