Obituary of Gerald "Gerry" Sutherland

Peacefully at Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke on Saturday afternoon, July 28th, 2018; Gerald Alexander Sutherland formerly of Arnprior passed away at the age of 84. Beloved husband of the late Elma (nee Bruce). Dear father of Bruce of Arnprior and Gerald (late Monica) of Nepean. Loved grandfather of Amanda, Shawn, Jocelyn, Matthew and Laura and great-grandfather of Ashley, Amy, Taylor and Juniper. Gerald was born and raised in Nova Scotia. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a young man and enjoyed a lengthy career in the military being promoted to Corporal prior to retirement. He then joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires where he dedicated several years of service before retiring as a Captain. Gerry was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Arnprior. Friends may join the family during visitation at the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. A Tribute to Gerry will follow in the Pilon Family Chapel at 11 o’clock. In memory, please consider a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 174, Arnprior. A Legion Tribute will take place at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m.
