My heart aches for all of you. Losing a family member is difficult at most times, however your loss is so much greater. I am sure that Sheldon/Your Dad was not in a good place at the time and did not intentionally do this to hurt any of you. I know this from my own experience with Bill passing the way that he did. Don't beat yourself up thinking about what you could have done to prevent this from happening as we are not always in control of the timing or the way our loved ones leave us. We do what we can for our families and friends. You will be filled with anger and wonder if you could have done something to prevent this from happening. You will be overwhelmed with all of the people who show up to give you a hug and offer their condolences and advice at the wake and the funeral. As much as we fear the funeral and having to face all of the people attending, it does help to heal. And Jenn, as much as you and the kids probably do not want to be there at all, think of seeing Sheldon/Dad in his coffin and remembering him there as opposed to remembering him the way you found him. This is the positive side of the funeral. I will be thinking of all of you over the next few days as you help Sheldon's spirit to move on, and as you celebrate all of the good and happy times that he brought into your lives while he was here on earth. Embrace the love that you had for each other and stay strong as a family. Each of you will grieve differently and have different thoughts, however if you can find it within your hearts not to judge one another and not to judge Sheldon/Dad, healing will be so much easier. You will never forget how he died if you choose to only remember that day only. Choose to remember all of the good times. Sylvia and Doug, my heart broke for you when I heard of Sheldon's passing.
I remember very well when he arrived and you were the proudest Mom. His smile (just like Mom's smile) will stay with me forever as we re-connected this past summer when he was working on the construction site in front of our office. Each morning he greeted me with that smile and a good morning that brighten the day. He was such a gentleman. A sweet young man has gone way too soon.

I´ll never forget the day Sheldon was ¨famous¨ on What´s Up Arnprior. Many people were expressing their gratitude for him during the construction downtown. I read that he would help people across the street as needed, always with a big smile. This was not a surprise.
